Mumbai's oldest and largest Central Prison, more famously known as Arthur Road Jail-- home to infamous city gangsters-- has developed a business model it seems.
A recent application made by underworld gangster Vilas Bharati to the Bombay High Court, reveals the 'setting' in place inside the jail premises that allows the inmates with deep pockets to enjoy a 'comfortable stay' inside.
A 'comfortable stay', priced at Rs 5 lakh per month, includes the delivery of a personal tiffin, access to cigarettes, magazines, playing cards, television, radio, etc, reported Mid Day.
The accused in extortion and murder cases wrote to the court, alleging that he was thrown out of the anda cell and put in 'normal' barracks because he couldn't afford to pay Rs 5 lakh, the report futher added.

The jail's egg-shaped high security block (anda-cell) inhibits the most dreaded criminals who are serving the jail term for high-profile cases.
The report also says that the luxury range in the anda-cell starts from Rs 2 lakh and goes to Rs 10 lakh depending on an individual's demand.
The police authorities have denied receiving any complaint regarding this issue.
