When a man caught fire after an accident, bystanders rushed -- to pull out their phones to take photos and videos.

They clicked, clicked and clicked till the man was charred beyond recognition. Neither the billowing fire, nor the sight of two bikes lying crumbled above the motionless body on a highway in Maharashtra’s Beed was not strong enough for others vehicles to slow down and help.

Police said none of the people who crowded around the body helped, and the man unconscious from head injury caused by head-on collision with another bike, couldn’t cry out for help.

“By the time help arrived and the police put out the fire, he was charred beyond recognition. The other biker died in hospital today,” NDTV quoted Police officials of Beed District, Maharashtra.

According to an NDTV report, the police are investigating whether one of the bikers was carrying bottles of alcohol which could have started the fire.

"We are yet to establish who the victim is," a police officer said.
