In Kochi, 136 out of 326 schools have recorded 100 % result in School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) board examination or Class 10 board examinations, with all the students qualifying for higher studies.

According to a report by The Times of India, many schools had conducted before and after school classes in Ernakulam which helped the students to perform well during the board exams.

Speaking to the newspaper,  PJ Benny, headmaster, St George's High School in Edappally said,"We worked hard so that our students could do well in the examination. We conducted night classes in the last few months. We brought our students to school, taught them from 4pm to 8pm and also provided them with dinner."

In total 98 students had appeared for the examination and all of them qualified for higher studies at the school.

Pathanamthitta town secured the highest percentage of students qualifying for the higher studies (98.86%) followed by Muvattupuzha education district with  98.85% students gaining eligibility for higher studies.

In Ernakulam, Aluva and Kothamangalam, 94.45%, 96.9% and 96.96% students respectively became eligible for higher studies, the report adds.

The examination conducted in March had 4,55,906 regular students and 2,588 private students. There were 933 centres in the state and 9 centres in Lakshadweep and the Middle-East region,  reported Hindustan Times.

Earlier, the examination were delayed after the mathematics question paper was leaked and the exam was rescheduled. The education department was mired in controversy after at least 11 questions of the model exam were repeated in the final paper.

The exam conducted on March 20 was cancelled and rescheduled for March 30.  

During a vigilance inquiry into the paper leak, 2 teachers who set the question papers were found guilty of having nexus with a private tuition centre in Malappuram, subsequently leading to the leak, the report adds.
