Months after the incident of a villager carrying the dead body of his wife after not receiving ambulance service in Odisha, another appalling incident has come to light in Karnataka where a father lost his daughter while carrying her on a moped to the hospital.

The incident has reportedly taken place in Tumakuru district where a 20-year-old hearing-impaired girl Rathnamma  had fallen ill on Saturday night. She was then taken to a private practitioner who provided her medication. However, things took an ugly turn the next day when her condition deteriorated, reported The Times of India.

The victim's parents took her to government hospital but couldn't find any help so they returned to the private doctor who asked them to take her to the Madhugiri Hospital which is 20 -25 kms away from theeir village.

According to the victim's brother, a private taxi driver demanded Rs 3000 which they could not afford.

Subsequently, they took her on the moped of one of their relatives to Madhugiri, but she died on the way, recounted Raju, Rathnamma's brother.

While speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Raju said, "No one should suffer our fate. I hope the death of my sister will open the eyes of the government to the lack of an ambulance in Kudigenahalli hospital and  it posts a permanent doctor there."

According to a villager, this is not the first such case of death due to absence of ambulance. It has happened in the past as well. It has been brought to the notice of government as well but no step has been taken towards it, he added.
