Pity I am not Remo, Goa's famous balladeer, or else my lament could have been set to music. Goa brings out the poet in all of us. Rather, it used to. But looking at its tattered state today, I feel like weeping, not singing. Goa has been done in by venal cops and corrupt politicians - that is the sad truth about India's little jewel. The one tourist destination that had got it right... well, almost. Why ‘almost'? Because ever since Goa was ‘discovered' by trendy jetsetters who made its magic known to the rest of the world way back in the 80s, it was left to evolve on its own, sans interference from ‘authorities' - the same nameless/faceless (often useless) babus, who are about to receive a massive pay hike. If only these busybodies had left Goa alone and intervened only when required, this sorry state of a terrific destination would not have come to pass. Forget poor Scarlett for the moment - the state of Goa itself is the first victim of multiple rape - it has been brutalised several times over by the very people who are supposed to protect it. Scarlett Keeling is but one of the countless victims of the shockingly brazen system that has allowed Goa to become a dope den controlled by the international drug mafia.
Over 60 foreigners were killed in Goa in '07, out of which 32 were British. Suspected drug overdose is the official explanation. Twenty-three cases under the anti-narcotics laws were registered last year. But these statistics reveal little. They are ‘official' and therefore suspect! How ironical. It took the death of a 15-year-old British teenager to focus attention on how depraved and dangerous Goa really is. And it took a Feisty Fiona (Scarlett's mother), who has soldiered on with the sordid case in the face of death threats, to finally get everybody's attention. There is something really, really rotten in the state of Goa, and it's time to wake up and smell the feni.

Do not forget the BJP. If they had agreed Karad would be a minor player. Even now he is. And Karat is not a Chinese guy the last time I checked. That his "sympathy" lies with China and that I don't like his party are different matters.

But that happened after Uncle kicked your rear end (I'm trying hard to avoid my French here). With China signing the NPT and having strict regulation on the supplies from Australia, good luck trying to get any yellow cake.

Who is paying for that? It reinforces my view. You guys are so desparate for money that you would now even sell to your arch-enemy (according to your own "Islamist" view) with cement. And can you please enlighten me as to what % this is of Pakistan's total production of cement and what % this is of India's total cement consumption? link would be fine, I'd like to know.

I would bluntly use the term prostitution rather than sex tourism. I have no problem with it, even Amsterdam has a red light district. So let's not be prudes.

I am waiting and watching. But don't tell me it would replace the Malacca straits in importance. That would be nonsense. And what exactly would be the relevance/importance of Gwadar compared to say Karachi or Mumbai? On top of it, it is located in the highly unstable province of Balochistan.

BS. It is gonna die a supernova-like catastrophic death especially considering the fact that pretty soon either Middle East is gonna run out of oil thereby all of them becoming beggars or the West and other countries switch from oil to other means thereby again making them beggars because of lack of oil demand or both. Don't underestimate the power of human mind and intellect. For when faced with a crisis, it always comes up with a solution.

land owners, entrepeneurs and most of all people who defended their hearth and homes against fanatical muslims.
