<b> Thursday 14 July</b><p>BJP workers burn a poster of filmstar Salman Khan in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The Mumbai film industry-underworld nexus came to the fore once again with the media carrying an audio tape of a <a href=full.asp?fodname=20050714&fname=salmankhan&sid=1 target=_blank>conversation</a> purportedly between actor Salman Khan and actress Aishwariya Rai in which he flaunted his links with mafia dons such as Abu Salem, Chota Shakeel, Dawood Ibrahim and Guru Satam, prompting the Maharashtra government to order an inquiry. While the Mumbai police first denied that the phone tapping had been done by it, the intelligence agencies pointed out that the actor had been investigated for his underworld connections, while a photograph of the actor with Dawood's brother Noora was published in another newspaper. While the BJP protests targeted cinema halls screening Khan's latest movie <i>'Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya</i>, the Congress tried to stay away from the controversy, saying it is not necessary for us to comment on each and every issue, the Samajwadi Party has defended the actor saying the genuineness of the tape should first be established. The Mumbai Police has now taken voice samples of both Khan and Rai for forensic investigations.

Fingers in One Pie Two Many?

He’s probably had his fair share of the two-timin’ man sort of roles—his nature fits that of the girl-in-every-port serial lover prototype. But this is no film still. It’s just the music launch of his next venture Ready, where Sallu had his hands full with the female lead, Asin, and his Veer co-star Zarine Khan.

Slide Show
For those who have managed to tear their eyes away from the image resting cheek-by-jowl, the IIFA awards, we confess, wasn’t all Kareena and Priyanka. It also included Salman, Anil Kapoor and Govinda in a choreographed chop-chop dance that last graced screens in the hideous ’80s. Don’t be angry at them m’lads, pity them.

Thursday 14 July

BJP workers burn a poster of filmstar Salman Khan in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The Mumbai film industry-underworld nexus came to the fore once again with the media carrying an audio tape of a conversation purportedly between actor Salman Khan and actress Aishwariya Rai in which he flaunted his links with mafia dons such as Abu Salem, Chota Shakeel, Dawood Ibrahim and Guru Satam, prompting the Maharashtra government to order an inquiry. While the Mumbai police first denied that the phone tapping had been done by it, the intelligence agencies pointed out that the actor had been investigated for his underworld connections, while a photograph of the actor with Dawood's brother Noora was published in another newspaper. While the BJP protests targeted cinema halls screening Khan's latest movie 'Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya, the Congress tried to stay away from the controversy, saying "it is not necessary for us to comment on each and every issue", the Samajwadi Party has defended the actor saying "the genuineness of the tape should first be established". The Mumbai Police has now taken voice samples of both Khan and Rai for forensic investigations.
