Pakistani protesters hold a poster bearing caricatured portraits of Western leaders during a rally to condemn the publication of cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammad in Karachi. In the fourth successive day of demonstrations, some 40,000 protestors joined a rally called by religious parties, burning Danish flags and effigies of Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen in the latest round of protests over the cartoons. About 5,000 police and paramilitary forces, wearing helmets and wielding guns and shields, were deployed along the two-mile route of the rally to prevent violence that has plagued other protests throughout the country this week.
