It was the year of the common man in Hindi cinema. The nicest of characters were the men next door—the boring but nice Surinder Sahni (SRK) in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, the list-making Amar Kaul (Vinay Pathak) in Dasvidaniya, the silly common sardar who did some uncommon antics in Singh is King. And then there was the "stupid common man" as in Naseeruddin Shah in A Wednesday who showed his anger against the "system" by planting bombs all over Bombay.
