Terror In The Afternoon 1  2  3  4  5  6  7
AP
Zaveri Bazar, Mumbai. It was around 12:50 p.m. when a loud explosion shattered the crowded lane some 50 metres from Mumbadevi temple. It turned out that it was a bomb blast - the sixth since December last year. A taxi laden with explosives had been used. Most of the earlier ones had occurred in buses, local trains and railway stations. The toll in all those: 15 dead, 117 injured. This one left 35 dead. The Ayodhya connection was widely noted in most quarters, as news of the ASI finding 'distinctive features of a 10th century temple beneath the Babri masjid site' in its report had received wide coverage before the blasts.
