Arrest Warrant Issued Against Railway Min's Son

A court here today issued an arrest warrant against Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda’s son, a week after a Kannada starlet filed a complaint of rape, cheating and kidnap against him raising a firestorm.

But police awaited the order of another court hearing the anticipatory bail plea of Karthik Gowda, who has been booked on the three charges on the basis of the complaint filed by the actress who claimed they were married.

The 8th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court has issued arrest warrant against Karthik, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Alok Kumar told PTI.

Asked whether police are on the lookout for him, he said "anticipatory bail proceedings (on a plea by Karthik) are underway in another court. We are waiting for it (order)."

Sessions Court Judge Mudigoudar adjourned proceedings for tomorrow on bail plea after hearing arguments from both sides.

Police had asked Karthik to appear before them for questioning twice, but he failed to show up before the second deadline set for August 29.

The case has triggered a storm in the state after the small-time model-turned-actress lodged a complaint against Karthik, claiming they had got married at Gowda's residence in Mangalore in June in the presence of only Gowda's driver.

The actress came out with her claim on a day when Karthik was engaged to another woman at Kushalnagar in Kodagu district.

In another twist, a Kannada film director claimed to have married her but the actress filed a complaint with RT Nagar police on Wednesday night accusing him of tarnishing her image in the media.

Police officials have said they were studying the legal issues on her second complaint.
