SSP Onkar Singh and SDM Navneet Chahal today went to Mamata Yadav's house in Shatabdi Nagar area and handed over the cheque to her, said a police spokesman.

They said the youths who were in the car alighted and started assaulting Mamata's husband following which she tried to resist the attackers by showering them with blows.

Mamata said she and her husband sought help from the people present at the scene but no one came forward.

This is an absolutely farcical conduct by the GOVT setting up a very bad standard. Dose the Govt mean any incidence of a woman taking up law and order by herself should be rewarded? This woman herself was not assulted neither it is proved whose fault it is for the accedent. Obviously the youth group did crime by beating the man so be booked. But she had no business to attack them. It was dangerous for her as she could have been assulted fatally, more over he duty was to immidiately call the police and shout for help if she thought this was going to be out of control. Today she got away with because possibly those youth were mentally not prepared to be attacked by a woman. But be careful any kind Govt endorsement would only help criminals better prepared and more aggressive to women which would result in actual murder. This is no way a symbol of women power, it simply shows her unnecessary arrogance. Even this may encourage her or many other women to be child abusers.
