Ahead of polling in 56 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav today made an unscheduled visit to Nadwa college and met rector Maulana Rabe Hasni Nadvi.
Accompanied by party leader Bukkal Nawab, Yadav met Nadvi, who is also president of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, for about 15 to 20 minutes, party sources said.
The meeting was a courtesy call, they said adding the SP chief enquired about the well being of the rector.
In December, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi had paid a surprise visit to the famous Muslim educational institute here and met its head for about half-an-hour.
Gandhi's visit had come close on the heels of Congress' decision to provide reservation to backward Muslims.
Polling for the fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly election covering 56 seats spread over 11 districts will be held tomorrow.
