A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in the Prem Nagar area , police said.
Jugnu, a resident of Amit Vihar Colony was arrested for raping a girl on Thursday along with his one friend, they said.
On the complaint made by victim's family, Jugnu was arrested while efforts were being made to catch the second accused, police said.
According to the complaint, Jugnu and his friend forcibly took the girl to a vacant plot in the area and raped her.
A 20-year-old girl was allegedly raped repeatedly by her stepfather for several months in the Mall area, police said.
The accused had threatened the girl with dire consequences if she told anyone about the matter and raped her several times over the past four to five months, police said.
The girl's mother, also the wife of the accused, registered a complaint with the police, following which he was arrested yesterday, they said.
The victim's mother had married the accused after her first marriage had broken up. She had two daughters from her first husband, police said.
A clerk of Kanpur Development Authority and his three accomplices were booked for allegedly molesting a woman in a moving car.
The woman, daughter of a police official, wanted to purchase a land in Naubasta area of the city and one of her acquaintances had introduced her to the KDA clerk.
The clerk called the woman at Panki Chowk area here last evening on pretext of showing a plot, police said.
When she reached, the clerk and his three friends took her to a deserted place in a car, police said.
According to the complaint filed by the woman, they tried to molest her in the car, and after she raised an alarm she was dumped by them near Sanchedi area last night.
A hunt is on to nab the accused who are absconding, police said.
Three persons have been arrested for allegedly raping a 19-year-old here in December.
Acting on a complaint by the victim on January 31, the trio have been arrested, police said, adding a search is on to nab one more person, who is absconding.
The victim alleged that four persons had abducted her on December 17, 2012, and gang-raped her after taking her to an unknown place, police said.
The accused left the victim near her house and threatened to kill her if she revealed anything, they said.
A 18-year-old girl has alleged she was raped by her two step brothers in Derabassi area, some 25-km from here, police said.
The victim's brother had consumed some poisonous substance a week ago after learning about the alleged sexual assault on her sister by the step brothers, they said.
The step brothers were booked for rape and abetment to suicide, police said.
The girl's mother had died after which her father remarried, they said adding he too passed away and the girl started living with her step mother and her two sons.
A 15-year-old tribal girl, student of a residential (ashram) school in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district, was allegedly raped by the husband of her school superintendent, police said.
Mejharan Toppo, superintendent of the Gutakiya Residential School, and her husband Sunil Toppo have been booked, police said, adding a team of police officials has been sent to arrest the duo.
The incident took place on October 8 last year when the victim had gone to Harrapat village along with other inmates to perform a folk dance during a traditional festival of the region, Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) B N Sharma told PTI over phone.
Sunil Toppo, who was already present there, dragged the girl to a lonely place and raped her. After the incident, he dropped the minor at the hostel, where his wife Mejharan threatened her not to reveal it to anybody, Sharma added.
"Both accused are the residents of Harrapat village close to the Gutakiyapara area where school is located. A police party has been sent to arrest the duo," he added.
According to Ankit Anand, Collector of Jashpur, the incident came to light yesterday when the victim had narrated it to some government official, who had gone for a routine inspection there.
"Mejharan was removed from the post of superintendent for dereliction of duty three days ago, following which the government officials were sent to the hostel," he added.
Police were later informed in this connection and Toppo was suspended today, the Collector said.
This is the third rape case involving tribal minor girl reported in the state in the recent times, police said.
A sixty-year old man allegedly raped a 19-year old before dumping her at a deserted place from where she was rescued in an unconscious state two days later, police said.
A contractor, H Abubakar of Hagaribommanahalli, was arrested today on a complaint from the parents of the girl, who has been hospitalised and is yet to regain consciousness.
He had allegedly kidnapped and raped the girl, also a resident of the same village, on February 1, police said.
After committing the crime, the man threw the girl at a deserted place on the same day in a state of unconsciousness, police said. She was noticed by some people after two days, they added.
The victim had been admitted to a private hospital in Davanagere and was still unconscious, police said.
