Strike: Biman Warns Mamata Against Foiling Strike

Accusing West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee as "anti-worker", CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose today said Banerjee should stop taking measures to foil the February 20, 21 strike called by central trade unions.

"It (Trinamool Congress) claims that it is against fuel price hike. But when central trade unions have called a countrywide strike against the policies of the centre our chief minister is opposing it," he said.

If she was friendly to workers and the poor, then she shouldn't have opposed the strike, Bose observed.

"The fact is that she is anti-worker and anti-poor. So she is opposing it," said Bose while addressing a mammoth rally here.

Opposition leader Surya Kanta Mishra suggested that Banerjee publish a book on the performance of the TMC regime on the eve of two years of completion of power in West Bengal, which falls in May this year.

"She had published books after completion of 100 days and after one year. After completion of two years, she should also publish a book narrating her government's achievements and about her claims that 90 per cent development work, which she had promised in the manifesto, has been completed," Mishra, who is also a CPI(M) politburo member, said.

Mishra also took a dig at Banerjee for being more involved in festivals of the state rather than actual developmental work.

"She is celebrating Mati utsav. In a newspaper it was revealed that after this Trinamool regime came to power investments in the state has fallen by 98 per cent. If the investments has fallen by 98 per cent then what is the performance of this government?" Mishra expressed surprise.

Mishra also took a dig at Banerjee's previous comment of "Darjeeling is Smiling".
