Stop Flow of Migrants to Delhi: Goel Courts Controversy
send via whatsapp

While debating the Delhi budget in the Rajya Sabha, BJP leader Vijay Goel urged to stop the inflow of migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar into Delhi. This stand is very much like that taken by MNS chief Raj Thackeray in Maharashtra. Goel said putting a stopping migrants was a sure shot solution to Delhi's problems.

According to media reports, Geol stated, "Every day more migrants come to Delhi. Most of them are from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. They come here because they don't have employment opportunities in their states. These migrants settle in slums, which later become unauthorised colonies. If we have to solve the problems of Delhi, we need to stop this inflow of migrants."

Goel also suggested opening branches of Delhi University colleges in other states to stop migrant inflow.

"Students come here every year because there aren't any good colleges in their states. We can open branches of colleges in other states to stop this inflow," said Goel.

Under attack for his comments Goel said his remarks were taken out of context for political gains as he had only suggested facilities on par with the national capital should be provided in states like UP and Bihar.

"My comments were taken out of context for political gains. I only said that if facilities are improved in states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, then people from these states will not feel the need to come to Delhi," the Rajya Sabha MP said today.

Congress has slammed Goel's comments, saying these remarks reflected BJP's attitude towards the people from other states residing in Delhi.

"The comments are totally unacceptable. The comments reflected BJP's attitude towards the people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh who are staying here," said Delhi Congress Chief Spokesperson Mukesh Sharma.

Goel's comments have stirred up a storm with people likening him to Raj Thackeray.

It's high time to think of  transferring  the capital of India out of Delhi. It is not only full of thugs, rogues and criminals of Haryana, Punjab, Rajastha, UP who cannot be controlled by the administration but also boasts of prolific brains of the likes of Goels.

BJP gets absolute majority because of overwhelming number of seats from these two states. And now Mr. Goel has this to say! Our netas really know how to be contemptuous of those who vote them to power with so much expectations.
