Samjhauta Express Blast: NIA Arrests Key Suspect
send via whatsapp
In a major breakthrough in the 2007 Samjhauta Express blast case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) today arrested Rajesh Chaudhary, suspected to have planted bombs in the Pakistan-bound train, from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.

Chaudhary, who is also known as Samundar, carried a reward of Rs five lakh.

He was arrested and produced before a court in Ujjain which gave his transit remand to the agency, official sources said adding that he will be produced before a Panchkula court.

The breakthrough came after intense investigation being carried out in the case by the NIA which was handed over the probe in 2010, they said.

It is the fourth arrest in the case. The NIA has already arrested Kamal Chauhan, Aseemanand and Lokesh Sharma for their alleged involvement in the blast.

The bomb blasts in the Samjhauta Express near Panipat, Haryana on February 18, 2007 and the consequent fire in the train coaches had resulted in the loss of 68 lives and injuries to 12 train passengers including women and children.

The initial investigation into the bomb blast was conducted by the Government Railway Police and Special Investigation Team of Haryana Police and subsequently NIA took over the case on July 29, 2010 following a directive by the Home Ministry.

NIA had on June 20, 2011 filed a charge-sheet before the special court under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against five accused -- Naba Kumar Sarkar alias Swami Aseemanand, Sunil Joshi (now dead), Lokesh Sharma, Sandeep Dange and Ramchandra Kalasangra alias Ramji.

Dange and Kalasangra are absconding.

The investigating agency had in August this year also filed a supplementary chargesheet in the case against disgruntled RSS worker Kamal Chauhan and his associate Amit in a special court at Panchkula charging them with murder, conspiracy and other offences.

Lokesh Sharma, a close associate of late Sunil Joshi, had sent Chauhan and Rajesh Chaudhary for the recee in December 2006. Later, Old Delhi railway station was selected (for planting bomb) from where the train originates, the sources said.

The Samjhauta Express was chosen as the target and both of them came to Indore on February 17, 2007 and took delivery of the suitcase bombs to be planted in the train on the next day.

These arrests are  made just at the time of Elections as the Value Adders .Arrests were made on Saturday and Voting in Gujarat was on Monday.

At tim eof Bihar Justice Banerjee released his Report on Godhra  to the Media just a few days before the Bihar Votings. Though Banerjee was supposed to submit the Report to Railway Minstry headed by Lalu who was bound to put the Report in the House.

In Malegaon the Muslims arrested under supervision of slain ATS Chief Mr Karkare and when Muslim Leaders protested the case was handed over to CBI who to agin said nothing to add to ATS investigations. In shear desperation NIA was created and case was passed on to it.NIA tried its best to clean chit Muslism accused of Malaegoan but could not give the clean chit and finally settled for Bail to the accused pleading that their investigations are not over but will not oppose the Bail Applicationss.

The real problem are the Brain Tests and other Tests ++ the confessions before the magistrates.

On other hand Sadvi and Col Purohit are saying publish our brains Tests and also Malegaon accused but the Govt is not agreeing .Again reason is the Elections .

Similar Vote Enhancer arrests will be made in 2014 now again .

But there is no need for that as Muslims in any case will not Vote for Modi and BJP .

Hence BJP has to think of serious steps to win back Muslims as 17 crore Minority can't be alowwed to be permanetly in limbo.

Now Maya has created another storm by getting passe dSC/ST Resrvation Bill where as Muslism were promised in UP elections for similar Bill.

Many more fire works are awaithing to happen .So wher eis the need to resort to such Vote Enhancers like arrests at time of Elections.

Congress too should think of some serious steps other than meaningless sops like above.

By arresting the Samjautha Express blast suspect when Mr Rehman Malik the Interior Minister of Pakistan was on Indian soil, the UPA regime has handed a huge political victory to this minister and that could have been avoided. The Minister has been making controversial remarks from the time he landed and now he has been rewarded.

> "According to the Samjhauta chargesheet, the conspiracy was hatched in 2005 in Madhya Pradesh. In December 2006, Lokesh Sharma sent Kamal and Samunder to Delhi to carry out a reconnaissance of possible targets. While the duo first wanted to bomb crowded lanes around Jama Masjid, the plan was abandoned due to tight security. Samjhauta Express was then selected as it was easy to enter Old Delhi railway station with a bomb and plant it in a train without arousing suspicion."

Ominous! However good work by NIA.
