BJP Won't Face Anti-Incumbency in MP: Tomar

State BJP president Narendra Singh Tomar today said the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government would not face anti-incumbency in the coming Assembly elections.

Congress in the state was battling "internal problems" and having a "leadership crisis", said Tomar at a press conference here.

State Congress had no achievements of the Central government to bank on, nor could it rely on its record in the state, he said.

However, "we do not consider the opponents weak in the electoral battle", he said.

There should be no anti-incumbency working against the Chouhan government as the Chief Minister had a contact with the common man, Tomar said.

"Chouhan is very active, sensitive, and keeps in touch with every person as a head of the state."

About BJP's choice for the Prime Minister's post, and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's chances, Tomar said Modi was a capable and popular BJP leader, but the decision would be taken by the party's Parliamentary Board.

As to the role of senior leader Uma Bharti in the coming Assembly polls, Tomar dodged the question, saying that party high command would decide it.

Tomar also said that an election preparation plan was chalked out at the party meeting in Bhopal yesterday. In the first phase there would be a mass contact program from February 25 to March 20 in which 53,000 party workers would reach out to 2.25 crore people.

After Holi, there would be `Holi Milan' programmes at Mandal and district level.

Shivpal Singh Chowhan doing a reasonably good job in M.P as Chief Minister. Moreover Congress has nothing to boast about its achiements in the centre.
