BJP Fanning Communal Hatred in Maharashtra:Nirupam

Drawing a parallel between the murder of a techie in Pune and Muzaffarnagar riots, a Congress leader from Maharashtra today accused BJP of "fanning communal hatred" in the state through its "pocket organisations" with an eye on Assembly polls.

AICC Secretary Sanjay Nirupam, a former MP from Mumbai North, also hit out at the central government over reports that Home Ministry does not seem to be satisfied with the report sent by the state government on action taken by it in the techie killing case.

"It is a leaked report. We cannot say with authority what is written in the report as we have not seen it. Instead of leaking reports, the central government should act," he said.

Nirupam said that Congress in Maharashtra is concerned that "some sort of communal hatred is being fanned by BJP through its pocket organisations."

"Assembly elections are going to take place in the state this year and the incident (of killing of techie) has happened in Pune. In the same manner, BJP had fanned communal tension in Uttar Pradesh before the Lok Sabha polls after some incidents in Muzaffarnagar.

"This is BJP's style of functioning. Wherever they have to fight elections, such communal sentiments are fanned. We apprehend that BJP or its supporters fomented trouble in Muzaffarnagar, they are going to orchestrate same thing here," he said.

A 28-year-old software professional Shaikh Mohasin Sadiq was bludgeoned to death allegedly by persons with suspected links to a Hindu outfit in Pune about four days back.

A total of 13 persons have been arrested by police in connection with the murder.

The trigger for the attack was apparently uploading of derogatory pictures of warrior king Shivaji and late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Facebook by unknown persons which led to a protest bandh on Sunday.

The accused booked under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 147 (rioting) of Indian Penal Code are said to be linked to Hindu Rashtra Sena, a right wing organisation.

Asked on what basis he was levelling allegations against the BJP over the incident, Nirupam said that a number of BJP leaders had shared dais with the members of the Sena.

"This is their old habit. First they fan communal tensions through their pocket organisations, wherever they to fight polls and they say that they have no relation with those organisations. There are photographs of a number of BJP leader having shared the dais with Sena members," Nirupam said.

Those who know Maharashtra politics of the last 30-40 years will vouch for the fact that there is only a "unees-bees ka farak" (19-20 difference!) between Shiv Sena, BJP, Congress, NCP, Repulican Party of India and MNS when it comes violence against Muslims.

One may point to the vandalim and violence indulged by Muslims near CST a couple of years ago to say Congress-NCP pampers Muslims. That will not be correct. Congress-NCP pampers the goons and underworld elements from heavily Muslim-populated areas in South Bombay.

But when it comes to lay Muslim men, women and children, you can expect Congress-NCP thugs to be as brutal as SS-BJP-RPI-MNS thugs.

The good thing is many right-thinking people have seen through this and reject all of them when it comes to their vote.

>> Because there is as much proof that Muslim Techi's murder has Congress party's hands as there is BJP's hands.

Only in your imagination! All those arrested are Hindu Rashtra guys. You can be sure they are admirers of Modi.

Vijay Pandit, a BJP guy, has been killed in Noida. Now whom should we blame for this? Or is it OK to remain silent if a BJP guy is killed? After all the succus did not say anything for the dozen BJP functionaries getting killed in TamilNadu in the last year.

Should Modi be responding to this?

Good to know that Congress still has not learnt anything from its defeat in 2014. They still are clinging to the same old template.
