Punjab unit of Shiv Sena today asked parents to monitor their wards, particularly girls on Valentine's Day tomorrow, to keep the latter from "going astray".
"Young girls get trapped in difficult situations as the so-called expression of love on Valentine Day ends up in horrendous crimes like rapes," Sena's state Vice president Inderjit Karwal claimed.
Karwal warned that no youth will be allowed to indulge in vulgarity in the garb of alleged expression of love, adding that hotels and restaurants should not allow their premises to be used for any vulgar activities.
"Sena has no personal grudge against anybody. But in case of any vulgarity, proprietors will themselves be responsible for any damage to or loss of their property," he warned.
Sena also demanded more deployment of police at public places tomorrow so that no miscreant can indulge in eve-teasing.
Sena's City and Urban Blocks Presidents Kuldip Dani, Charanjit Pehalwan, Youth wing Incharge Gurdial Saini jointly presided over the meeting.
Will Inform Parents If We Spot Minors on Valentine's Day: Bajrang Dal
"We have asked the city police commissioner not to grant any special permission for Valentines Day celebrations. We also appeal to managements of resorts and pubs not to organise special programmes to celebrate the occasion," Bajrang Dal's city president Vinod Kumar said.
"We do not want to disturb the daily life of others. We will inform the parents of minors, if we spot them...," he said.
Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said they will provide adequate security at parks and other places tomorrow in the city.
"Though the call has been given that no one should take law in their hand, stringent action will be taken if there is any disturbance," he said.
Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission had sought a response from the Police Chief by February 21 on a complaint stating that right-wing Hindu organisations were "threatening" to forcibly marry off lovers caught on Valentine's Day.
The complainant had alleged that the VHP and Bajrang Dal are against Valentine's Day and they virtually announced for banning the day.
