TN: CPI-M, CPI Workers Held for Trying to Stage Rail Rokos
About 80 CPI-M and CPI workers were today taken into custody at different places here for trying to stage rail and road rokos on the Cauvery issue.

About 30 CPI-M workers were taken into custody when they attempted to block a Train from Mayiladuthurai to Tirunelveli at the station here. They shouted slogans demanding that Karnataka release water to save the crops.

Police said about 50 CPI workers were taken into custody for trying to stage road rokos at Neelathanallur–Asur bypass road, Thirupuyambiyam and Sundaraperumalkoil bypass road protesting FDI in multi-brand retail and Cauvery issue.

Some 100 shops downed shutters at Swmimalai in protest against FDI and on the Cauvery issue following a call by the 'Varthagar Sangam Swamimalai'.
