In a fresh incident of embarrassment to Samajwadi Party, a minister, Surendra Patel, on Monday evening, slapped and punched a party worker in full public view.
Patel, state minister for Public Works Department (PWD), committed the act during a party meeting in Varanasi which was held to address problems of party workers.
Ironically, the worker who got punched had raised the issue of high-handedness and hooliganism of party members.
Patel reacted by lunging towards the worker. He slapped the worker in full public view and then punched him.
This is not the first case of violence displayed by Surendra Patel.
During a blanket distribution drive on December 29 last, the same minister had beaten up some people.
Samajwadi Party members have constantly been in focus for various such acts since their government's formation in March 2012.
Recently some of their workers had thrashed up toll booth staff in Lucknow when asked to pay toll fee.
SP is not fit to run even a village panchayat. They are petty criminals and hoodlums.
