The cases of rape, molestation and forced prostitution seem to be on the
rise not only in the capital but also in other parts of the country alike. While
a 4-year-old was molested in a school bus by its conductor in Mumbai, five women
were rescued from G.B. Road of New delhi who had been forced into prostitution.
Vikaspuri, G.B. Road in Delhi
A senior official of Central Water Commission was arrested here after his
domestic help alleged that he was raping her for the past one year, police said
A case was registered in the Vikaspuri police station last night and the
official was apprehended.
The maid, who is from Jabalpur, alleged that she was being sexually assaulted by
the official for the past one year.
She approached police yesterday following which the case was registered.
In another incident in the city, five women, allegedly forced into
prostitution, were rescued from the G B Road area here and two people arrested
in this connection.
The women were rescued yesterday, with the help of an NGO Rescue Foundation,
police said today.
Working on specific inputs, a team led by ACP Ram Kumar of Kamla Market police
station along with the representatives of the NGO, conducted a raid and rescued
the girls, they said.
One Kamal and Lalita were arrested in this regard, police said.
"During investigation, it was revealed that the rescued women are residents of
West Bengal and Karnatka. They belong to poor families and were lured to Delhi
on the pretext of providing them good employment and were subsequently forced
into flesh trade," Additional Commissioner of Police (Central District), Devesh
Chandra Srivastva said.
"They told police that they want to go back to their places and live a normal
and decent life. All rescued women are majors," Srivastva informed.
Further investigation in to the matter is in progress, he said.
Aurangabad, Nagpur, Mumbai in Maharashtra
A 19-year-old youth was arrested, in Aurangabad, for allegedly raping a minor
girl for over a year on the pretext of marriage, police said today.
"The accused Vijay Veer lured the girl from Dhangarwadi village to have physical
relation with him under the pretext of marrying her," said Sub-Divisional Police
Officer (SDPO) Sandeep Jadhav.
Jadhav said that the accused was arrested yesterday after the girl lodged a
complaint against him after he refused to marry her.
Vijay has been booked under section 376 (punishment for rape) of IPC and
Atrocity Act, the SDPO added.
In a separate incident in Nagpur, an 18-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped
by a group of dacoits at a village near here, police said today.
A gang of 5-6 dacoits, in the age group of 25 to 30 years, struck at the huts in
Nawargaon village under Kuhi taluka in Nagpur rural last night between 8 and 10
They beat up the inhabitants and later criminally assaulted the girl, SP, Nagpur
Rural, Manoj Sharma told PTI.
The alleged dacoits seem to be from Pardhi community and a hunt has been
launched to trace them, the SP said.
They had earlier also made dacoity attempts in nearby villages, he said.
In yet another incident, a 4-year-old girl was allegedly molested by the
conductor of her school bus here but, in an apparent goof up, a case of rape was
registered against him, a senior police officer said toady.
Bus conductor Ramesh Rajput (35) allegedly molested the girl in suburban Juhu on
Tuesday afternoon when children were being dropped back home, city Police
Commissioner Satyapal Singh said.
Being the last to be dropped home, the KG student was the lone child in the
school bus when she was sexually abused by the conductor in the presence of a
female attendant, who confronted him for the indecent act, police said.
The case came to light on Wednesday when the victim informed her father about
the incident and he reported the matter to the school authorities immediately.
"There was no rape or attempt to rape. We are rectifying our mistake," Singh

contemplating to remove it with the permission of the court," Mumbai police
spokesperson Ambadas Pote said.
A case was registered against Rajput after medical check up of the victim. The
accused was arrested and charged with rape and molestation under Protection of
Children from Sexual offences Act.
The bus driver's statement has also been recorded, police said.
Badhodi Village, Safeendon, Jind in Haryana
A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his daughter-in-law, a widow, in
Badhodi village of the district, police said today.
The 40-year-old woman lodged a complaint in Sadar police station yesterday,
alleging that her father-in-law Ram Chandra had raped her on January 16, they

The accused was arrested yesterday and was booked for rape.
Meanwhile in Safeendon area of the district, a minor girl alleged she was raped
by a youth on January 18 when she had come to her sister's place in Echran Kalan
The 15-year-old girl told police yesterday that the accused Sanjay, her sister's
neighbour, sneaked into her room late in the night and sexually assaulted her.
Sanjay was nabbed yesterday from a bus stop in Haat village during a search
operation, police said, adding that a case of rape has been registered against
Both the accused were produced before a local court today, which sent them to
judicial custody, police said.
In another incident, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Jind
district, police said today.
The victim in her complaint has alleged that the youth committed the crime when
she was alone in her house in Airchira Kalan village yesterday.
The police have registered a case of rape against Sanjay, a youth of the same
village. The rapist is absconding, police said.
