Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today said there is no change in the government's stand on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's demand for suspension of policemen for alleged dereliction of duty, saying action will be taken only after receiving the inquiry report.
"My stand remains the same. No change in the stand. Action will be taken only after receiving the report," he told reporters here.
He was replying to a question whether the Home Ministry is contemplating suspension of those policemen against whom Kejriwal and his ministerial colleagues are demanding action for alleged dereliction of duty relating to three incidents.
Asked whether the Home Ministry was planning to forcibly evict the protesters from near Rail Bhavan, which is adjacent to the Republic Day celebrations area, Shinde indicated that there was no such plan.
"Let them do whatever they want to do," he said.
On whether the protests would give a bad name to the country as the national capital is preparing for Republic Day, he said, "The Chief Minister should think over it".
Kejriwal, whose dharna entered second day today, has ruled out negotiations to end the stand off with the Centre and threatened to flood Rajpath with lakhs of supporters that can disrupt Republic Day celebrations.
The Delhi CM is accompanied by his six cabinet colleagues and supporters at the protest site.
Kejriwal wanted to come out as a lion at the end of process. He has come out as a buffoon who had to retreat with his tails between his legs.
But thanks to him, we had entertainment for a day or so. Free comedy movie. I only wish Delhi police had shown more action and had broken a few skulls of AAP goons.
"Now UPA Govt has lost the face and Kejriwal has become an Hero of Delhi !"
You are wrong. UPA did not win anything but Kejriwal lost pretty badly and it was to cut his losses even further that he clutched at straws and accepted the "deal"-which simply amounts to the cops going on three days leave.
The support was pathetic. One channel conducted a poll and estimated that 77% of Delhi people opposed Kejriwal's move. And the crowd that assembled had to be imported from Haryana. Very few Delhi people joined in.
And besides, the image he has created for himself-that of being arrogant and reckless, will not easy to break from now on.
Mr P B Joshipura and Mr Raman Sharma
Should these demands had been met before the Dharana ??
Why the Congress made Kejriwal an Hero and self reduced to Zero ???
This whole affair will very badly harm Congress in Lok Sabha Elections.
AND KEJRIWAL WILL BECOME BOLDER AFTER TASTING THE VICTORY .
AAP Dharna has been called off.
Dremands of AAP partially accepted by LG .
SHO and one PCR Head sent on leave.
Police to pursue the burning of woman by her In Laws and Husband .
Why could not these demands were accepted before the start of Dharna ??
Now UPA Govt has lost the face and Kejriwal has become an Hero of Delhi !
