A two-member team of the company led by its managing director, Capt Sobha K Moni yesterday called on chief minister Manik sarkar and transport minister Manik Dey and expressed willingness to operate nine-seater aircraft.
"State government would provide all possible help to private airline company to operate air services," the transport minister told reporters today.
NSL sources said that they have got approval from the Civil Aviation ministry to operate this non scheduled and charter passenger service in the region.
Earlier, the North East Council (NEC), the regional planning body for north-east, had announced its plans launch a dedicated airline service for the region, official sources said adding the process for launching the service has already been started.
The sources said that at least 12 more new airports of medium range would be set up in different parts of the region to free it from the existing communication bottleneck.
