A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) today interrogated a Maoist and his associate who were arrested with sophisticated weapons used by US army two days ago in Hazaribagh district.
"The NIA team, which has come from Delhi, is interrogating Maoist Anil Yadav and arms supplier Prafulla Malakar. Important information may be known about the Maoists’ international link from the duo" SP Manoj Kaushik said.
Yadav, head of the CPI (Maoist) 'armoury' in Bihar and Jharkhand, and arms supplier Malakar were arrested from Silodar forest along the border of the two states when the weapons were about to exchange hands on August 29.
Rs eight lakh were seized from Yadav, who came to purchase the US-made rifle, inscribed Colt M-16 with 14 ammunition of 5.56 mm live cartridges, used only by the United States Army, the SP had said.
A Rs four lakh worth bullet-proof jacket, manufactured by a Manchester based company in the United Kingdom, was also seized from them, besides a 9mm Italy-made pistol.
