INLD Seeks CBI Probe in Education System in Haryana
Accusing the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Haryana government of embezzling an amount of Rs 500 crore meant for an education programme, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) today demanded a CBI probe into it.

"The primary education system in Haryana has totally collapsed...The state government had embezzled Rs 500 crore meant for Edusat programme by giving the amount to its favourites," INLD General Secretary Ajay Singh Chautala told reporters here.

Seeking a CBI probe into the matter, he alleged that the state government had looted Haryana in the garb of providing education.

Denouncing the state government's claim that Haryana had become a "education hub," he said that a survey conducted by an NGO in 2009-10 found that over 50 per cent of children in the state while studying in standard fifth could not read the books meant for Class two students.

"Around 30 per cent students between Class II to Class V fail to recognise numbers and alphabets," he said quoting the study by "Pratham".

In the garb of setting educational institutions, the land acquired by the state government from farmers has been handed by the Hooda government to its favourites, he alleged.

He also alleged that the Vice Chancellors of different universities appointed by the state government fail to have required qualifications for the post.

He lashed out at the government's alleged failure to declare results of various posts advertised through State Service Selection Board between 2007 to 2011.

Describing the Haryana government as "anti-farmers", he said that the state government had miserably failed to protect the interests of farmers.

He accused the state government of playing with the future of upcoming players in various disciplines.

"There is no institute, including educational and sports, worth of national standards in Haryana," he said.

Meanwhile, downplaying his party's defeat in Ratia bypoll, Chautala said the INLD's vote share had shown a drastic improvement in the segment.
