I Am Like 'Elephant', Media Like 'Barking Dogs': Asaram
Unfazed by the outrage sparked by his remark against the Delhi gangrape victim, spiritual leader Asaram Bapu today sought to justify the comments and compared all those criticising him to "barking dogs".

Later, he appeared to tone down his outburst by saying "if you listen to my satsang (religious discourse) for 15 minutes and don't feel change, then certainly, I will apologize"

"I can't think bad of persons who are alive. Then, how could I think bad about who is dead"? Asaram said.

Asaram also compared himself to an elephant who will not respond to "barking dogs" and said his remarks in connection with the December 16 gangrape incident were misconstrued by the media and his critics.

"First one dog barked. Then another dog barked. Soon all the dogs in the neighbourhood started barking," he said addressing his supporters.

"Now if the elephant runs behind the dogs, then their (dogs) value increases and that of the elephant comes down," Asam said gesturing towards himself. "They can say what they like. I don't care. I still maintain why should I run behind the dogs."

Asaram was at the centre of a controversy yesterday after he suggested that the 23-year-old gangrape victim was equally responsible for the ghastly crime and said the girl could have called her assailants brothers and begged them to stop.

"Now what did I say wrong? A man approached me and said my wife fights with me. So I said you can't with one hand. So what's wrong with that. Now this comment was joined with another comment," he said trying to underplay the controversy.

"Does an elephant give importance to dogs by reacting? he said, adding, "let people infer what they want."

Asaram later told reporters his remarks about the gangrape victim were misconstrued by his critics and the media.

The spiritual leader claimed if his speech was understood in the proper context people would be respecting him for his comments in the Delhi gangrape case.

Asaram said through the years he has achieved a high status and commanded respect in the society as a result of which he had attracted many critics.

Asaram also said he did not intend to harm anybody and that he wished the well being of all.

Godman seen praying to the lion after being thrown into a cage

A gruesome episode unfolded today when a group of irritated people threw a self proclaimed drunk godman Nasaram Bapu into a lion’s cage in Ahmedabad.

The cage was inhabited by a lion, a lioness and a cub. Sources said that the group of people, highly annoyed by lewd statements of moron public figures, had planned this in advance and were glued to their TV sets since morning, waiting for one such statement.

Unfortunately, Nasaram Bapu chose the wrong day to get high. Sources close to him confirmed that not only was he drunk, but he had also smoked pot before climbing the stage to deliver the fateful speech.

Eyewitnesses claim having seen the godman lend out a hand to the lioness calling it his sister. His palm was chopped off, rendering him unable to clap for the rest of his life.

But it did not end there. He turned to the lion and started blurting out some sort of mantras, praying to the lion, to spare his life. The lion looked amused, gave him a what-the-fuck look before reaching for his throat and piercing its claws and teeth into them.

Meanwhile Nasaram Bapu’s followers were jolted by the incident as they could not fathom how the prayers went unheard. Towards the end of the eventful day some explanation was given by Nasaram Bapu’s bapu Sri Ramram Bapu.

He said, “Nasaram was equally at fault with the lions. He, incidentally was wearing a transparent dhoti, giving a good view of his fleshy calf muscles to the lions which provoked them to attack.”

The irritated group is now frantically in search of Ramram Bapu. The lions foresee another feast.

Yesterday, Asaram Bapu had said that you cannot clap without both hands equally involved, means the victim girl was equally responsible.  One thing for sure that when a girl or a woman gets raped by Asaram Bapu (which he is capable of), she would be equally responsible for going near him.  (I am saying this because many girls and women go to serve him and to perform Puja).
