Union Minister V B Singh today accused the BJP government in Himachal Pradesh of indulging in corruption and demanded an inquiry into alleged purchase of land by sons of Chief Minister P K Dhumal in Kangra district.
Singh held a meeting of his supporters at his residence, apparently to celebrate his 50 years in electoral politics, and used the occasion to show his strength with over a dozen Congress MLAs attending the function.
The Union minister opposed handing over of historic Annadale ground here to the state government and said the ground should come to the state but not under the present government.
"If the ground is handed over to the present government, it would be converted into a concrete jungle and its pristine beauty would be lost" he added.
Replying to a question, Singh said the Chief Ministerial candidate of Congress should be declared much ahead of coming assembly election and the party should take a policy decision in this regard.
When asked about the infighting in the party, he said "we would unitedly fight the election and win".
