Govindacharya Criticises Cong, BJP Over Corruption
Former BJP general secretary K N Govindacharya today slammed both the ruling Congress as well as the main Opposition BJP over corruption.

"Congress and BJP are equally responsible for the present situation where corruption has spread from top to bottom in every field," Govindacharya said, adding that the country badly needed a strong opposition party, which BJP was not.

"The country must have a strong Opposition....But unfortunately the BJP has failed to play that role," the former BJP leader said while talking to reporters here.

He said people were taking to the street on the issue of corruption because it was not being discussed in Parliament.

Terming the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as an honest man, he said nevertheless, the Prime Minister was also equally responsible for the scams committed by his ministers, such as A Raja.

It was not enough to be just an honest man, but it was Singh's duty to prevent the corruption, Govindacharya said, adding that Prime Minister should step down as he had been named by Raja in the court.

Govindacharya was here to take part in the rally `Youth Against Corruption'.

The Congress did not have the will to fight corruption and black money, and if the country wanted to be ridden of corruption, then the corrupt ministers must be punished and made an example of, he said.

He also criticised Congress for opposing inclusion of the Prime Minister's office under Lokpal, saying that when the Prime Minister himself had no problem with the proposal, his party should not oppose it.

He suggested that perhaps Congress was opposing the idea keeping in mind that Rahul Gandhi might become Prime Minister in future.

Govindacharya ruled out the possibility of rejoining BJP. He said he was committed to "bring the Indian politics on the right path".

He is absolutely right. The sad thing is that the ordinary Bhaaritya is left with no choice. BJP has abdicated its responsibility and has become Congress Mark 2.
