Businessman and brother of former DMK minister K.N. Nehru, K.N. Ramajayam, was found dead on Thursday at Thiruvallursolai area here within hours after he went for a morning walk.
Police said K.N. Ramajayam had gone for an early morning walk alone, skipping his usual practice of going with his friends, and did not return home even by 9.30 a.m., following which family members lodged a complaint.
His body was later found wrapped in a cloth at Thiruvallursolai.
Police suspect he could have been kidnapped and murdered.
Some land grabbing cases are pending against Ramajayam in various courts, they said.
Karunanidhi Condoles Death
Meanwhile DMK president M. Karunanidhi condoled the death of Ramajayam and advised party cadres to “remain calm” over the alleged murder.
“I don't know how to console my party cadres. At this point of time, I request them to remain calm (over the issue)”, Mr. Karunanidhi said in a statement.
He praised Ramajayam saying “he was working very hard as if he was contesting elections“.
Mr. Karunanidhi also conveyed his condolences to Ramajayam’s family members.
