The BJP today alleged that the Congress will use a "trick of secularism in danger" to prevent Narendra Modi from becoming the PM and appealed to voters in Seemandhra to support the NDA to ensure that a hotchpotch coalition does not take over the reins in Delhi.
"Congress will try its best to get a ragtag coalition to keep Narendra Modi out and they will yet again raise the bogie of 'secularism in danger', its famous old dirty trick. It is not secularism but it is Congress which is in danger."
"Please keep your future in mind while you vote. Its Modi-led NDA or chaotic ragtag coalition. Choice is yours," BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said in a statement.
Polling for the 175 assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in Seemandhra will take place on May 7.
At the state level, it is important to have a government which can implement the assurances given to Seemandhra while bifurcating Andhra Pradesh, the former BJP president said.
The BJP's alliance partner, the TDP, has the ability to provide a stable and strong government in the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh, Naidu maintained.
>> secularist who truly care for secularism and want to fight that battle that we do become secular must fight the battle "religously" (ironic but true) of "strict separation of church and state"
I agree. But we must at least learn to make a distinction between those whose secularism is tainted because of excesses in a policy of inclusiveness and those who are wedded to Hindutva, who pick someone who calls himself a 'Hindu nationalist' as their PM candidate and who are in bed with the Hindu supremacists RSS and VHP.
Anwaar .... secularist who truly care for secularism and want to fight that battle that we do become secular must fight the battle "religously" (ironic but true) of "strict separation of church and state" (US istyle for lack of better way to explain it). Anything else, will keep the current debate boiling and never get us to the "right" place.
Congress secularism is peculiar. see. they do not discriminate in communal lines. in 1984, they killed the innocent sikhs. Now recently, congress silently monitored the riot, murder causing muslims to run away for life in muzzafar nagar. In assam, they are systematically aiming at muslims in kokrajaar in 2012 and now. They appear to have time table for this.
Is secularism not in danger, Mr. Naidu? Why are you trying to fool people?
