Congress Extends Best Wishes to Modi

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi along with her son Rahul Gandhi were among those present from the UPA at the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi.

Singh and Sonia Gandhi were seated in the first row along with foreign heads of governments and states.

Former UPA ministers P Chidambaram, Sharad Pawar, Praful Patel, Jairam Ramesh and M M Pallam Raju were also present at the ceremony held at the forecourt of the majestic Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Congress extended best wishes to Modi on the occasion, saying Modi has now become Prime Minister from being the BJP's PM candidate and should act in that spirit.

Warmly congratulating the new Prime Minister and his Council of Ministers, Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters that from being BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, Modi has become Prime Minister of the country.

"That is the difference we note and we expect others to act in that spirit. We wish they will achieve public interest and national interest," he said.

After the mess created for last so many years, Modi does need a bit of good luck. A good Monsoon will mean that the best of luck wish of Congress was genuine!
