Shiromani Akali Dal today asked the Congress to tender apology to the country for allegedly denigrating martyrs in a write up published in its official magazine Sandesh.
"It is a matter of shame that Congress has described martyr Sukhdev Singh as 'murderer' and by restricting martyrdom of Bhagat Singh and Rajguru to a particular caste Congress has exposed its communal face to the people of the country," said Sukhbir Singh Badal President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab.
He said that it was matter of great regret that Congress party has described Sukhdev Singh as a "murderer" of General Sandras.
He alleged by extending the virus of communalism to Bhagat Singh and Rajguru, the Congress party has showed how deep it can fall in its lust for the power.
The SAD President said that Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev made unparallelled sacrifice for the freedom of the country as a true Indian rising above the feelings of caste and community, but Congress party true to its nature was dividing the martyrs on caste lines.
Demanding unqualified apology for hurting the sentiments of Indians, Badal said that nothing short of unqualified apology would be acceptable to the people of India.
