BJP today welcomed the "belated" decision by a CBI court to frame charges against Congress MP Suresh Kalmadi in the Commonwealth Games scam but demanded that action be taken against those in the Sheila Dikshit government indicted by the Shunglu Committee.
"BJP welcomes the belated chargesheeting of Suresh Kalmadi. But it would like to know if any action will be taken on the report of the Shunglu Committee, which was constituted by the Prime Minister himself, to examine the entire CAG report pertaining to the Commonwealth Games," party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
The opposition party said the Shunglu Committee had made "very stinging comments" against the "collusion, inaction" of the Sheila Dikshit government in the scam.
Prasad pointed out that Shunglu Committee had observed there was a "method in the madness".
"Dr Manmohan Singh had assured the Parliament that he will take appropriate action in the light of the Shunglu Committee findings. BJP would like to know if the CBI will probe into the massive irregularities which have taken place in the Commonwealth Games," Prasad said.
He claimed that if CBI does not do so then it will be evident that the central agency is being misused.
