In Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana Rashtriya Samiti’s (TRS’) decision to sell applications to its prospective candidates has set off quite a stir. The Congress is miffed that the TRS is selling applications for all the 107 assembly and 16 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana while it’s in the midst of negotiating an alliance with it. But TRS leader K. Chandrashekhar Rao counters: "We’ve got over a thousand applications instead of the 450-500 we were expecting. This is proof of the people’s confidence in us." The TRS is charging Rs 10,005 per application for general candidates. Dalit, tribal and handicapped candidates have to cough up Rs 5,001.
