"Our survey of working people in major cities has revealed that only 7 per cent of them know how to file tax, and most feel it is very complicated. This includes industrialists," reveals Vyakaranam. To bridge this lacuna, the company embarked on a training programme through agent offices in eight cities in India, besides the overseas ones in New York and London. "We already have access to around five lakh employees in firms interested in using our services. In India, people are still not used to the concept of do-it-yourself tax-filing. The government system is not truly e-filing as it requires an intermediary plus physical submission. Any modification would require an e-signature. Pure e-filing will take at least three years. Most people don’t know enough about taxes."
