Eastern Entries
The chief of the Man Asian Literary Prize, Peter Gordon, flew down from Hong Kong to Delhi to drum up entries for the 2008 prize. Closing date for entering unpublished fiction manuscripts closes on March 31. This year, Pankaj Mishra has been roped in as one of the three judges for this pan-Asian litprize of $10,000.

Snub Acceptance
There was only one chair on the podium, but Sir Vidia’s shadow lay larger than life at the literary evening with Paul Theroux. Asked the inevitable: Has Naipaul read your book on him, pat came the reply: "The man is a knight, he’s won the Nobel Prize, do you think he has time to read me?" As it happens, Naipaul went on record saying he’s above reading Theroux’s books.
