""The idea of India, which can be described as a state of equipoise acknowledging the enriching aspects of pluralism while simultaneously upholding the idea of uniform citizenship, is today under threat from Modi’s brand of politics"

The Nehruvian idea of India has been to make Hinduism-free. And Modi's rise is in opposition to that.

It is very difficult to feel sympathy for a group that drove away the Kashmiri Pandits just because they were not muslims.

I have the same amount of sympathy for Kashmiris as the Kashmiris have shown for the Pandits.

BJP has a long way to go before it can become a serious player in the state. But the opportunity is there-given the pathetic state of COngress and CPM.

If BJP fails to make headway, they would have no one to blame but themselves.

For Bengal's sake, I hope BJP becomes strong.

as NS Ranjan says, I add Khursid is self appointed and self-acclaimed champion of Pakistani diplomacy.

He feins to be an expert, behind scene he is a mediocre person in public life, let there be a CBI investigation into his NGO, he will surely land into jail.

He claims to have build over 10 years(with UPA) a foreign policy, is actually non-starter, no initiative is a great initiative (championed by PM Narsimha Rao).

What Modi has done vis-a-vis Pakistan is the correct way for a new govt. Mr Khursid forgets that it is NDA and Congress or UPA. It is well within NDA right to experiment or do things they like.

Personally I find mr Khursid a very disguting man. No one is waiting for his marks for foreign policy led by NDA.

UPA = United Progressive Alliance and he says he believe in partnership, not in allaince.

It was anticipated as Pakistan behaved and India the right thing to send signal to Pakistan. Mr Bashit is an ISI man, so Pak army was given a clear signal. You can see Mr Sharif sent Mango to Mr Modi, that means all is well between two leaders, even it may be concerted effort to send right signal to pak army.

RSM,

>> " there is no 'Idea of India' enshrined in the Constitution."

This is what the Preamble to the Constitution says:

"WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;

LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;

EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;

and to promote among them all

FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation."

No idea of India there?

RSS rewrites history: Dalits 'created' by Muslim invaders

Emboldened by the BJP’s success in the Lok Sabha elections, the RSS has intensified its efforts to find and validate a common Hindu thread to unify all groups under one Hindu identity.

Three top RSS leaders have sought to attribute the genesis of Dalits, tribals and many other groups to “Muslim invasion” in medieval times.

Going back a little in time amidst the huge noise on 2G, Coal etc, a program called APDRP or accelerated power development and distribution reforms program was launched in every state and all big IT companies contested for this program to ensure T&D Losses, power theft monitoring real time could happen. Each state was allocated almost 500 plus crores towards this project and many top IT companies like Wipro,HCL, TCS bid for these projects in various states. Nobody know what the status of these projects are and what results did they achieve. But some facts for you is that according to statistics released and published in The Hindu, T&D losses national average is at 13%plus. In the US which is the largest consumer of energy it is just 5%. No idea on power theft, non payment of bills etc., One great statistic is that EXCEPT GUJARAT AND CHATTISGARH, all the other states, I REPEAT ALL THE OTHER BLOODY STATES ARE POWER SHORTAGE with different percentages of shortfall. Go Figure SECULAR DEVELOPMENT CONGIS....

Whose Idea of India? What state and church separation? 60 plus years of almost kicking hindus in the guts time and again in the name of bloody idiotic vote bank politics in the name of caste and religion, you now want church and state separate? Please take note of the fact that the country has moved on. All people want today is a dignified livelihood, an opportunity to become skilled and capable to earn the same, and live in peace. Tell me one PM who spoke extempore on Independence day about what common people can do for this country as small steps. Just stop pandering Bullshit in the name of intellectual analysis. Neither is your analysis good nor your intelligence shining through. In fact your article is straight DUMB.

BJP must stick to governance and development issues; steer clear of anti-Muslim rhetoric

In remarks that received wide coverage, Mr Modi said “Indian Muslims will live for India” adding that “they will not want anything bad for India”. These remarks are welcome and will hopefully set the tone for future political messaging. Two constituencies must echo the PM. One is the social media sphere where rhetoric about Muslims has a particularly nasty edge among self-proclaimed nationalists. Such a degree of intolerance is toxic for Indian society. There is a need for consistent rhetoric that refuses to stigmatise the other in order to reassure minorities and moderate political discourse. The BJP, in particular, must take cue from the PM’s remarks and desist from anti-minority posturing.

Some of these ignobel sciences is considered useful, atleast in KeraLa. I went through the paper on banana peels. It was impressive. School projects can be done on such lines. Its the meticluousness that catches the eye.

The UK Guardian implies that researchers worry about the effect of magnetic storms on dogs peeing or defecating. Ye Gods, want will they think of next?

On a related note. Is it any use. All these columnists and readers ranting, raving, complaining, pissing and moaning? Hmmm.

An elderly lady phoned her telephone company to report that her telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the few occasions when it did ring, her pet dog always moaned right before the phone rang. The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile elderly lady.
He climbed a nearby telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house. The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned loudly and the telephone began to ring.
Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found:
1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire via a steel chain and collar.
2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose.
3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the phone number was called.
4. After a couple of such jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate on himself and the ground.
5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring.

Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning.

After actor Suresh Gopi heaping praises on Prime Minister Modi time and again, it's now actor Mohanlal's turn. On his blog, the Malayalam superstar has written in detail about his thoughts on the Prime Minister's Teachers' day address.

Mohanlal writes that on Teachers' day he watched PM Modi talking to lakhs of school children across the country and he liked one question that a child asked Modi. "The child had asked Modi if he had ever thought he would become the Prime Minister, to which Modi replied that he never dreamt of it. You should not be dreaming of becoming someone, but should dream of doing something sincerely," Mohanlal writes.

The actor says he thought a lot about the PM's reply and apparently felt this was the best advise for a generation that is encouraged to do anything to achieve success. He then laments about the state of people in Kerala who have to travel on roads that have only potholes or have to wait at government offices for endless hours to get a file sanctioned. Mohanlal says he believes the Prime Minister's advise to be sincere to one's job is much needed for the upcoming generation. As only a generation aware of its duties can save Kerala's society from sinking.

The AAPtard needs to know that there is no 'Idea of India' enshrined in the Constitution. The constitution is about equality and rule of law. The IOI is about community based laws and benefits - everything that our founding fathers would have abhorred. India is not an 'idea'.

 KOLKATA:  A Pakistani citizen is now a TMC member in the Rajya Sabha, courtesy West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee. Ahmed Hassan, aka Imran, is in fact a Pakistani citizen, since he entered India from East Pakistan in 1970-71, before the birth of Bangladesh.

In his affidavit before the Election Commission, he stated he passed Higher Secondary examinations in 1972 and is of 60 years old. However, he did not mention his citizenship, place and date of birth. Hassan, according to the intelligence agencies in both India and Bangladesh, was born in a village in Srihatta, Sylhet, in East Pakistan, and entered the country through its border with Assam, much before the birth of Bangladesh. Hassan first stayed in Dhubri in Assam, which has a strong Muslim population, but later shifted to Banarhat in Jalpaiguri district in North Bengal. His father, a “Razakar”, was responsible for killing a large number of Bengali intellectuals, while aiding the Pakistan Army during the Liberation War, intelligence reports mention.

A Special Branch report of Assam Police states, “Hassan infiltrated Assam long before the birth of Bangladesh and as such, is an East Pakistani. His father too infiltrated, but took up a job in a tea garden in West Bengal, where he was killed by freedom fighters from Bangladesh who came across the border. His visits to Assam from West Bengal were monitored and he was found to be closely linked with several organisations close to the Pakistan’s ISI.”

“He had visited the camps that were being run at Moulavi Bazar in Sylhet, in the 80s, by an ISI Major. He maintained a façade while in Assam, saying he was a Leftist, since he was settled in CPM-ruled West Bengal. But, his agenda in Assam was clear cut and to some extent, he did succeed in consolidating anti-India forces here,” it stated.

On April 24,1977, a huge conference was held at Aligarh Muslim University, where the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) was born and Hassan was elected as its West Bengal president.  Hassan himself admitted, “I was a member of SIMI from 1977 - 1984.”

Even after the organisation was banned by the Centre, he remained the face of the organisation, according to a report with the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Some of the steps taken by the government have left a particular community worried. These decisions include providing Z+ security cover to Sangeet Som

The govt should decide on the security level based on the opionions of the Atul Chausasias and the jehadis. Why bother about the input of intelligence agencies?

The scums who get so agitated about security to Som, are perfectly okay with security to Geelanis, and Yaseen Maliks. This is the kind of secularism they want the govt to follow.
