The real problem for Congress will come when by fluke or by mistakes made by BJP, Congress will actually win something. Then they will delude themselves that all problems are solved and will go back to business as usual. That is the real danger for the party.

''Modi government takes India backward at WTO, this will hurt the country

"India has shot itself in the foot at the World Trade Organization (WTO) by trying to change the rules of the game after it has started. It almost seems as if we have a retrospective."

FARUKI SAHIB

" India firm on food subsidies at WTO, trade deal at risk

NEW DELHI: The government on Friday refused to yield to pressure from developed countries to accept easier customs rules without its food subsidy concerns being addressed, putting at risk a likely deal at the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Developed countries have stepped up the pressure on India saying failure to strike a deal on trade facilitation would stall global trade reforms and deal a massive blow to the WTO by undoing the work done by trade ministers at Bali.

"To jeopardise the food security of millions at the altar of a mere anomaly in the rules is unacceptable... In order to fully understand and address the concerns of members on TFA (trade facilitation agreement), my delegation is of the view that the adoption of the TF protocol be postponed till a permanent solution on public stock holding for food security is found," Anjali Prasad, India's ambassador to the WTO, said at a specially convened meeting to clear the trade facilitation agreement, which promises to ease clearances at ports and airports across the 160 member countries. ''

'' India stockpiles food for its poor, citing the need for food security, but doing so puts it at risk of breaking the rules of the WTO which worries that the stockpiling of subsidised food can distort trade.

In Bali, WTO members agreed to give India a pass on its stockpiles until 2017, while negotiating a permanent solution.

Officials told Reuters that India had not supplied any clear indication of concessions it wanted, so attempts were made at the meeting to reassure it that its concerns, whatever they may be, were being heard.

"India clearly and forcefully expressed its concern that work proceed on all fronts, including food stockpiling, and received assurances that all G20 members are committed to the full implementation of all Bali agreements on the agreed timetables," US trade representative Michael Froman told Reuters on Monday.""

Only an Indian could write this nonsense. Indians are so used to Pakistanis and Chinese walking into their land, beheading soldiers and killing at will, and the state does nothing at all. So we find it very offensive that Israel is fighting to stop the enemy from firing rockets into its territory. The tunnels show that Palestinians are not so innocent as is made out to be. Rather than cry about an unequal war, let this writer also comment on Pakistani intrusion into India's territory and how India should deal with it.

The Katju revelations may be new for the media, but the lawyers and the middlemen have long known how our courts really function. Every judge has a son-in-law who is a lawyer practising in the same court, and judgements - when they are delivered - suit one of the two. In the other courts, the only thing that judges do is to grant dates. Let's hope that now, since the matter has come to the notice of the press, something gets done about our defunct legal system.

" his chauvinistic and regressive forays in the field of education."

1. Chauvinism and regressive education is not something new. That is one of the reasons why ISIS has so many takers in India.

2. After the damage caused by Macaulay and the Marxist-socialist-Nehruvian ideaolgy that followed it in the field of education, it is okay to expose our school children to contrarian ideas.

3. Instilling pride on our heritage is not chavinism nor is it regressive since nobody is advocating a return to some idealised past. A people who have been a subject race for millennnia need to be inspired by their heritage to cast away the last vestiges of slavish mentality from their collective psyche.

Yes, it can happen to anyone. Perhaps the Bangalore protestors, heedless of rapes in other parts of the country, realise that now. With lax laws, poor implementation and a politicised police, such incidents are only going to increase in the future. Let's hope the outrage produces some political action, though I am not optimist about that.

The problem of rape has got out of hand in India. Rape is the weapon to settle political or communial scores, but ultimately it is against women. Till institutional measures are taken - reforming the police, professionalising them, better implementation of laws - this problem is going to stay. The rapes and the murders will become more and more brutal because punishment is either late or absent. However, if anyone had any hope that the BJP government would take up this task, ignored by the Congress for so long, they have been disappointed.

I observe that Curfew is relaxed in Hindu Sikh area in the Forenoon and in Muslim areas the Curfew will be relaxed in the After Noon.

Better the curfew should have been relaxed in both the areas. The Hindu Muslims of Sharanpur have no problem among themselves.

IT WAS THE OUTSIDERS WHO ATTACKED THE GURUDWARA.

MUSLIM LADIES SAY OUTSIDERS ARE HIDING IN LANES AND BYE LANES and at night they come out ,burn the shops and quickly disappear back .

SARKAR SHOULD FLUSH OUT THE CULPRITS -NOT DIFICULT IF AKHILESH SARKAR IS SERIOUS.

I saw on TV Hindu Sikhs purchasing medicines, milk, vegetables in plenty to stock.

All complained that UP Govt is not doing any thing to alleviate their misery.

TOMORROW IS EID -GOVT IS FEARING TO RELAX CURFEW .

Now another incident .

TV said in RAMPUR the seat of power of AZAM KHAN SAMAJWADI Minister -two bikes involved in an collision belonging to two different groups -safely assume Hindu Muslim boys involved in the collision .

Pistols came out .Firing took place . 3 killed and 7 injured .

Now TV has changed the version a little and says '- Motor cycle entered one field ,damaged the crop and firing took place.

TOMORROW IS EID .

Sharanpur and Rampur and are under Communal strife.

Meanwhile Gurudawara land dispute is far from resolution.
Muslims confirm that one Muslim Aksari built a Mosque but sold the adjoining area to two Hindu sisters in 1947 with stipulation that Mosque will stand as it is and area of the Mosque is out of purview of the Sale Deed .

Muslims say they have no objection for land sold to the Gurudawara but san Masjid area.

SIKHS SAY NO MOSQUE STANDS ON THE AREA UNDER THEIR CONTROL NOR ANY MOSQUE IS SEEN NEARBY THE GURUDAWARA LAND .

But the Chowk is called Aksari Masjid Chowck but no Masjid is seen or exists.

Meanwhile Sikhs took Morch on PathanKot Jammu Highway and jammed it .

SGPC Akhal Thakat has sent a team to understand the problem.

Alegations are flying thick and thin that Masood the 'Tukre-Tukre kar doonga-wala'

Congress MP is fomenting trouble in view of the bye Elections in UP .

Both Muslims and Sikhs say the Muslim rioters who stoned the Gurudawara and torched Hindu-Skih Shops were outsiders. They attacked the Gurudawara and disappeared when the Polce arrived.

I heard Muslim Ladies.Muslim men  and Sikhs saying on TV that outsiders who attacked the Gurudawara were never seen before.

"The Oslo Accords did not stop the continued settlement expansion and blockades which caused the deterioration of economic conditions, and much frustration for Palestinians. In 20 years since the Oslo Accords, until 2013, the settler population is tripled. Most new settlers moved to settlements near the Green Line. The vast majority of the settlers who moved to isolated settlements more eastwards were ideologically motivated. After Oslo, the Israeli government took upon itself not to establish new settlements. Instead, however, some 100 outposts were established, encouraged and supported by the government.

"The 2013 third Netanyahu government drastically enhanced new constructions in settlements, most without tenders and most in isolated settlements scattered over all of the West Bank. Additionally, the government published planning tenders for large-scale settlement construction in the area around East Jerusalem." - Wiki

LUCKNOW/MUMBAI: After hitting the headlines for greeting Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self-appointed caliph and head of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Sunni theologian Maulana Salman Nadvi of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, in an open letter, has asked the Saudi government to prepare an army of five lakh Indian Sunni Muslim youth to fight against the Shia militias in Iraq and elsewhere.''

I clearly mentioned that the fledgling state of Israel was attacked by Arab forces. The Israelis drove them back and occupied over 60 % of the land allocated for Arabs. After the 1971 war, they grabbed the west bank from Jordanian control and Gaza from the Egyptians.

I also said that once Arabs accept Israel's right to accede, abjure violence and implement the Oslo accords, I will support the Arab cause and for the return of lands earmarked for the Arabs.

1. I said that in a state of superconsciousness arrived at by spiritual practices, the highest knowledge is achievable.

2. Yogis have done it, Sufi saints have done it as well as spiritual masters of all religions. It is NOT about one-up-manship.

Looks like lack of comprehension skills, lack of logic and lack of an open mind, inter alia, are not a barrier to acquiring advanced degrees in physics.

" By trying to legitimize this landgrab you are revealing your extreme prejudice. "

Look who is talking. A sage whose world view is jaundiced by his faith!

1. You live in USA. Are you aware that it is the culmination of the largest land grab in human history by Europeans?

2. You reside in the state of Texas, which originally belonged to native Mesoamerican tribes and was grabbed from them by the French, the Spanish, the Mexicans and the USA?

3. The faith that you ostensibly profess to started out in the Arabian desert, in a place that you say had no concept of state, and set into motion forces that culminated in the grabbing of a vast swathe of land extending from as far west as the Iberian peninsula all the way to the Indian subcontinent in a very short span of time?

History has never been your strong point. All through history, land has been grabbed and retained by force.

May I remind you that Palestine is just a small sliver of land. Did you ever shed tears, even crocodile tears for the Kurds, an overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim people who number nearly 40 million and whose territories, spread over a vast area of nearly 400,000 square kms and whose lands have been grabbed by Turkey, Iraq, Iran and Syria? Have you condemned the systematic genocide of the Kurdish people by the Turks and the Iraqis?

I guess it does not matter if Muslims grab the land of other Muslim people.

Learn your history first before passing comments. It only betrays your ignorance and prejudice in addition to an inability to engage in civil debate.

A 6 year old child is vulnerable. It cant physically defend itself. Its mind is innocent.

Raping a child is a rarest of rare crime and deserves the highest level of punishment.

This is not hyper reporting - raising society's voice is a must if such crimes have to be prevented in future.

One of the arguments that Congress toadies, having been putting out for an LoP is that without an LoP, several selection committees would be incomplete. This is a LIE because the CVC Act itself states that

Explanation.—For the purposes of this sub-section, “the Leader of the Opposition in the House of the People” shall, when no such Leader has been so recognised, include the Leader of the single largest group in opposition of the Government in the House of the People.

Even without LoP status, the Congress leader would be a member of the selection committee.

However, the same Congress toadies who are moaning about how lack of LoP will vitiatet the selection process should be aware of how their leaders ignored the views of the LoP in blatant violation of the SC judgement passed after the PJ Thomas fiasco in which the SC turned down his appointment on the very same grounds that Sushma had raised and Maun Moan and PC had rejected without explanation.

Two NHRC appointments in 2013 violated SC norms - ToI

The appointment of former Supreme Court judge Cyriac Joseph and former police chief SC Sinha as members of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) violated the transparency norm prescribed by the apex court in the P J Thomas case.

This is evident from the minutes that have come to light through RTI of a statutory selection committee's meetings chaired last year by the then Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh.

Though the then leaders of Opposition (LoPs) in the two Houses, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, had recorded their dissent with reasons, the committee recommended the appointment of Joseph and Sinha without a word of explanation for setting aside the objections.

The committee's failure to address the contrarian views of Swaraj and Jaitley before clearing Joseph and Sinha for the NHRC posts breached the 2011 Supreme Court judgment which had forced Thomas to step down as chief of the Cental Vigilance Commission due to a similar omission.

Holding that the selections made to statutory bodies were subject to judicial review, the verdict in the Thomas case said that whenever there was no unanimity or consensus, "that Member should give reasons for the dissent and if the majority disagrees with the dissent, the majority shall give reasons for overruling the dissent."

For the two NHRC appointments made last year, the majority failed to give reasons on both occasions for the dissent expressed by not one but two members each time. When it chose Joseph on May 16, 2013 on the basis of majority vote, all that the committee recorded in its minutes was: "The leaders of the opposition from both the houses dissented. Their notes of dissent are appended." At the time of Sinha's selection two months earlier, the minutes simply said: "Two members of the selection committee expressed disagreement. Their notes of dissent are enclosed."

All such selections to statutory bodies subsequent to the Thomas verdict are, if challenged, liable to be quashed for not complying with the transparency benchmark set by the Supreme Court to "maintain the integrity of the decision-making process". ..

The disclosure of the minutes of the selection committee raises issues that go beyond the legality of the two NHRC appointments. It shows that, despite the embarrassment suffered in the Thomas case, the UPA government did not mend its ways. The dissent notes appended to the minutes also show that, when they were LoPs, Swaraj and Jaitley adopted positions that were as candid as they were principled.

So let's not hear this c**p of propriety from serial violators of the law.

Over 1, 00, 000 Indians die in road accidents each year.. Twice or Thrice the number get maimed...

Some 15000 people in India die crossing railway tracks each year..

We do not get much time to pay attention to the above, because Media cannot spin fancy conspiracy theories or blame some group(BJP/RSS) for these deaths.

Congress is a doomed ship is a foregone conclusion, for, present bunch of Gandhis, including, PRIYANKA have no capability for revival of the same. Indira Gandhi resurrected because she had political acumen; Sonia Gandhi has neither the political acumen, nor wisdom/intelligence required for revival. She is only a scheming lady.Even in feudal system, the straps are required to be smart to rule.Congress is a bunch of sycophants gathered around Gandhis for they werre able to throw bread crumbs to them with the power.STARK REALITY IS, THOSE DAYS ARE NOT LIKELY TO RETURN.

Media is back to secular cowardly reporting - 'riots took place between two communities' even though it is clear which are the communties, what was the issue and who was the aggressor! Soon media will start blaming Amit Shah! A Kerla Christian school headmaster and official were arrested because they served pork during Ramzaan even though Muslims has the choice of fish curry! What sick secularism is this? Are Muslim's going to decide what food is to be offered? And were are busy debating Shiv Sena and Sania Mirza.

For such people, the quack across the road who is expert in black magic last 60 years and treats all your illness by lies and deceit is the god. Please, go to him, get yourself cured. And yes if he asks for a child sacrifice , do that as well...

Anwaar >> The assortmnet of India, Saudi Arabia and Egypt makes obvious sense.

Saudi Arabia which calls itself as holy land of Muslims has no problem selling crude oil at usurious rates to other nations and parks the riches in Wall street run by Jewish bankers of Iraq. They have no problem if the US Marines protecting their royals dine pork and liquor in their own holy soil.

The emperor has no clothes, India has no obligation to support anyone  but its self interest. Palestine may have a few million muslims suffering but India has 800 million Hindus, 150 + million muslims suffering. Saudi Arabia is not going to help us give cheaper oil or gas. We have to stand our feet and israel or any place does not matter.

As for palestine it is a problem created by others, esp EU and Anglo saxons and jehadists in West Asia and they must solve. We (Indians of all faiths) have no stake in it.

Start with Kerala, close all those toddy outlets and see a new generation of keralites who would work in their own secular beautiful state rather than sell themselves for a pittance to labour in ISIS infested Iraq or Boko Haram infested West Africa..

The Mandate for Pakistan was to give autonomy to islamic majority regions of undivided India but the mandate was not to throw out the minority hindus. Hindus were 15% + in undivided Pakistan, but in today's Pakistan they are not even 2%. So why are you legitmatizing this and you are only expressing your prejudice by refusing to condemn this.

We are welcoming of diversity because of our primarily Hindu faith and though you will disagree and call me names that is is the truth. Neither islamic pakistan nor buddhist sri lanka/myanmar have proven to be so welcoming despite being in same neighbourhood and the minorities in Mizoram arent really thriving either. Of course telling this simple truth does not mean I hate other faiths and it is far from it but it is another thing that most of your folks are sold into fictions such as AIT that spew hatred on one group of Indians.

Misogynist >> Lets see if you will answer these. Or will you do a Maun Mute Singh?

1. Sexual assault crimes alone cannot be indicator of falling L&O Situation but they impact men the most.. every rape victim is having a dad, friend, sibling , or even a kid who is a male and is traumatised the most but neither your ilk nor feminist types understand it and they see everything in the prism of unending gender war. It does not help !

2. Very true, male death rate is much higher but one crime does not absolve another.

3 &6  - Media is doing all sorts of distorted hyperreporting - see how media hypes up the Gaza war victims but has not a word to say on Boko Haram or ISIS or the trauma of iraq christians/kashmir pandits or hindus of pakistan. But why you r silent on that?

4&5 - Rape laws must be converted into gender assault laws, made gender neutral .. any kind of assault on private parts of anybody - be it male or female or 3rd gender by anyone else is a crime. Are you okay with it?
