Harish Khare’s piece on Modi (See it only in 3D...), was a hilarious read, highlighting his own deception, disrespect and dabanggiri.
Pratik, Missouri, US
I hope all this loyalty to the Congress pays and Khare gets to go back to the PMO.
Arun Nair, Mumbai
Harish Khare has lost his bearings. The strangest claim he has made is of Modi managing to get the media, which, for ten years has been baying for his blood, being brought round, along with the civil society, to support him by the four big industrial groups!
Harish Khare says nobody should grudge Modi his victory and proceeds to grudge with all his 'might' Modi his victory throughout the article. In fact, he has infused hate into every sentence.
If people had any doubt about why MMS, a supposedly good man, got a bad press consistently for the last four years, Harish Khare provides the answer with this article.

What a trashy, scurrilous defamatory article. What confuses me is whom exactly is Harish Khare targetting. Even die hard Con-gress supporters will find it difficult to swallow this rubbish.

'Modi’s success: if a man who ten years ago was just a district-level leader can be packaged and sold as the BJP’s best national bet, surely there was at least some hope for the ‘young prince’.
That is quite true. In a country where the likes of Harish Khare can pass off as respectable journalist, Rahul Gandhi has a pretty good chance.
"Modi fails the Advani test. "
Is that not a good thing for Modi? After all Advani failed. Why should Modi play the same game as Advani and fail as Advani? He should try something different.
I think tide is now turning in favor of Modi. The problem with UPA is that they already have got all anti-modi and anti-BJP votes. With the so much minority politics now muslims have commited themselvs for anti-bjp and pro-UPA. This leaves BJP totally unintersted in even doing a token apeasment. The neutral public is fedup with corruption and mis adminitration of UPA. They don't have anything to show for their two terms in center and various states. UPA doesn't have any leader, the biggest mistake was not to give any responsible role to any yound and promising leader and using all old faces. What kind of leadership you can expect from Shinde, Sibal and PC or even Sheila Dixit? they are all tried tested and failed. MMS doesn't have anything left for third term his second term being total failure. Now Sonia cannot become PM becuase of her own "tyag" and her son is incapable of winning even his own seat in Amethi.
Wow! This guy is self obsessed about his rightness, nothing else exists!
Amazing! Mentally unfit people contribute in outlook.
Mr Harish Khare,
Your sincerity towards the ruling dynasty of India and the CONgress party that has ruled India for 56 years (out of 65 year independence ) is all understandable, but why dont you exercise more creativity and imagination and humour when you write a piece to show Modi in poor light vis a vis the India's ruling dynasty? A pig, wrapped in a beautiful suit will still smell foul but atleast grab the attention of the onlookers. You must try harder for all the recognition and reward that your masters (the CONgress party) have given you thus so far...
It's a hilarious read highlighting Deception, Disrespect and Dabangiri of the author.
I hope Sri Khare is curious enough to read the responses of Outlook readers to his assinine piece! We have a saying in Kerala" give someone a stick and get beaten by it !".This is not an exact translation but close enough. That Khare is at the receiving end of criticism for his myopic views should teach him not to put pen to paper in this manner in furture. It makes one wonder at the type of "scholars' who are considered worthy of a Nehru Fellowship ! Loyalty to the one political family perhaps. No wonder Sri Khare has been totally silent on the plethora of scams indulged in by UPA from top to bottom ! FRom gobbling up National Herald +assets, 2G,. Coal Alottments,. CWG , KG Basin , etc etc, too numerous to catalogue. The pseudo royals firmly believe in the short memories of the mango man, but surely these misdemeanors will come home to roost in 2014.
Is this dude PM's media advisor? I pity the PM and his party!!
This read was hilarious
Rahul - Sycophants such as him who feel that the only way to advance themselves is sucking up to you are your greatest enemies. With such people around you, you are doomed. Instead of kicking their asses you award them fellowships!
But for some reason I suspect that this person is an agent of BJP in the govt planted to keep Congress and the prince in a forever delusional state.
Harish Khare is the recipient of the Jawaharlal Nehru fellowship for 2013 says :
" if a man who ten years ago was just a district-level leader can be packaged and sold as the BJP’s best national bet, surely there was at least some hope for the ‘young prince’. "
and these guys talk about Modi's personality cult with a straight face
why such contempt towards a person from a humble background - why is one's lineage more important to this people than ones ability ...
he sounds Sarah Palin mocking Obama for his Community Organizer background .
In the last days before the elections, the police in the urban areas (which have provided the decisive seats) was commandeered to send out a message to the minorities to behave and to just keep in mind that the central forces would eventually go back after the votes had been counted.........................................for such serious charge....he must be made answerable..........he must not go scot-free for such serious charge
Sure, the Congress Party would welcome Modi being made the NDA's Prime Ministerial candidate. For one, JD(U) would walk away and probably join hands with the Congress Party. Major parties like SP, BSP, TMC, CPI and CPM will not sup with the BJP, especially if Modi is leading the charge. The only major new ally the BJP may attract would be AIDMK. It will be advantage Congress.
Mr Khare...much more is stake for you than Mr Modi....its your credibility as a journalist..its shame that instead of commenting on ground reality you are talking like a political activist...why don't you join Congress and write least we know what to expect......
People like me, like the internet, but the internet has not made the impossible, possible. No political party can say, they will win any election for sure. Mr. Tebbit didn't say the dead rat was smelling, dead. He meant, the dead rat would smell, for whomsoever stayed long enough, later.
It would be an error of judgment to view the Gujarat result as a successful marketing campaign.
ROLF. This is one of the most comical artical i have come across in recent times. I couldnt stop laughing after reading these line-- " In the last days before the elections, the police in the urban areas (which have provided the decisive seats) was commandeered to send out a message to the minorities to behave and to just keep in mind that the central forces would eventually go back after the votes had been counted."-- The author writes it as if the election commissioner and the "secular India media" which was waiting for an oppurnuity to ponce on Modi where all sleeping.
In this article the author sounds like a frusturate impotent husband.I hope his loyality to the Congress party pays and he will get back to PMO.Further i would like to know his openion on the Assam massacre -2012 where illegial Bangladesh musilims went on a rampage effecting more than 4 lakh people. Howerve since the state is been ruled by "Secular Congress Party" the pseudo secular Indian media and free thinkers have conveniently turned a blind eye to it.
Amusing article, and coming from Khare, expectedly stupid and inconsistent. Let's examine some of his gems
>> Narendra Modi and his NRI promoters
At a time when the man has won a big, extremely rare, third victory, all Harish can think of are his NRI promoters. Later of course, he contradicts himself, by talking about four corporate houses. But then, he is stupid, so such nonsense is expected of him.
>> The Modi hat-trick comes despite a marked disquiet among significant sections like the poor, tribals, Muslims and Patels
How does Harish know this? In a democracy, isn't the support to be gauged by elections? By what yardstick does Harish complain that he doesn't enjoy support of large sections of above groups?
And unless he is following policies that are specifically against these groups, how is he to blame if these groups (or significant sections of it) oppose him? After all, as CM, he is (and should be) responsible for the greater good of the state, and all its residents.
>> it enabled the moderate, reasonable and secular Hindu middle classes to believe that perhaps the chief minister has turned a new leaf
Hasn't Anwaar told you that such a middle class does not exist, at least not in Gujarat? His major support base consists of those who cheer him for the marginalization of Muslims. So why would he bother with Sadbhavna? Is it too logical and honest for you Harish?
In fact, you again contradict yourself later in the article, when you write
>> Second, the second defining element of the Modi leadership is a cultivated antipathy to minorities. This remains the core of his appeal among his flock and self-imagined political persona.
So, if his appeal is based on a cultivated antipathy to minorities, how would Sadbhavna help him, and why would he indulge in it?
>> not because of personal animosity but as part of an expedient calculation, aimed at catering to our baser instincts
So insults due to personal animosity are okay? When his opponents call him names, are they catering to the baser instincts of their support base?
>> a massive and unorthodox use of the state police and its coercive machinery to instil a sense of fear among all detractors, particularly the minorities
This is the most serious charge, and also presented without any evidence.
If true, our news media should be severely reprimanded for failing to report it. Katju should be shouting from the rooftops about it. And Khare, what are you doing about it? Why don't you file an FIR, and request a SC monitored SIT on the issue, giving them all the evidence you have?
>> Modi is perhaps the first politician since the Swatantra Party days who is not apologetic about his open links with capitalist honchos
There is no reason to be apologetic about it. These "capitalist honchos" are part of the society, and have as much right as any other group, to influence policy, or to support politicians/parties that they feel can advance their interests. The only thing that can and must be demanded is that they don't break any laws. Again, Khare gives no evidence of the latter.
BHARAT
totally agree!!
SC does not find Sikh killings in Delhi worth relentless investigation as NM was followed.
SC is part of the problem.
Harish Khare is the recipient of the Jawaharlal Nehru fellowship for 2013 >>> A grateful recipient of Sonia Gandhi's patronage and largesse provided by taxpayers' money.
Norman Tebbit, had sceptically noted that the public “can smell a dead rat even when it is wrapped in red roses”. Narendra Modi and his NRI promoters have disproved the Tebbit formulation by carving out an impressive victory. >>>>
That is rich!!! The real dead rat is the vicious hate campaign carried out by Congress wallahs and their jhola wallah friends and other so-called 'civil' activists.
Religious or casteist riots did not start in India with 2002 Gujarat riots (as a reaction against the burning of 59 Hindu pilgrims) and nor has it ended - Congress ruled Assam, Rajasthan, UP and other states EXCEPT Gujarat are testimony to that fact.
When there is one set of rules and responsibility for Congress leaders who cause lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits to be refugees in their own land since 1990 thanks to Islamic religious fundamentalists and terrorists or who allow massacre of thousands of Sikhs in Delhi alone under Congress's Rajiv Gandhi, we know it is all votebank politics and a bitter hatred of BJP and Hindus and an attempt to keep the patrons Sonia Gandhi and her relatives in power.
Deception, Disrespect and Dabangiri are the true characters of congress party. Mr Khare as his name suggests Khare(truth) is actually manipulating the result to please the boss of section of congress that controls the PM, no wonder he is made media adviser to PM.
Can he suggest his boss to come and debate in public? Or Sonia Mata to speak on Vadhera money?
Mr Khare is just manipulating the disaster congress finds herself in and some how manage next election.
The three Ds: deception, disrespect and dabangiri describe Modi's techniques very well. Besides lies, he is a master of half-truths and distortions. He does have the advantage of the fact that his supporters are more than willing to overlook his lies, half-truths and distortions. Similarly showing disrespect to the Prime Minister or Sonia Gandhi does not cost him anything with his followers, who in fact regale in such coarse lambasting of national figures. The extent to which he can bring daban on his critics can be seen from the travails that Teesta Setalvad and Sanjiv Bhatt have had to endure and are still enduring. Whether he had any role in the silencing of Haren Pandya will probably never be known.
