Countries deal with each other on 'reciprocal' basis.

Individuals deal with each other on reciprocal basis.

Organizations deal with each other on reciprocal basis.

Because that's the only way we have to influence other parties behavior.

Then when it comes to religion, why not treat muslims and mus majority states in the same manner as they those states treat non-muslims ?

Treat Saudi muslims the same way as Saudi muslims treat Hindus.

Hindus in India, should treat muslims the same way as muslim Pakistan treats Hindus.

If Jinnah, who oversaw the genocide of Hindus is Pakistan is not a monstorous communal criminal then maybe if muslims were treated in India like Jinnah's pakistan treated Hindus, may be they will understand tthe difference.

Reciprocity is the only tool non-muslims have to send a message to the vicious bigotry and violence resulting in genocide that muslims have practiced against non-muslims since 7th century.

One can be secular or communal in national or state politics. But is "communal" a proper word when one is fighting for a homeland? When Zionists partitioned Palestine to create Israel, were they communal? At the beginning of his political career he was praised to the sky by Sarojini Naidu and Gokhle as a prince of Hindu-Muslim unity. At the end of his political career he gave his secular speech 4 days before independence. In between he was thrown into the position of one who had to mobilize his community as a political force. Partition was a blunder but it resulted from the intransigence of several people and from some very serious blunders made in 1946. Your simplistic vilification is now the standard mantra in India so any fool can say it without fear of contradiction.

"What a despicable and ill-bred hate-spewer you are, you moron! And an ignoramus to boot!" --

Are you denying that you are (descendent of ?) a convert ? Or do you feel yourself ashamed to acknowledge this in public?...

"There are two parallel narratives about the violence on Direct Action Day"-

Oh no ! There cannot be two different narratives of what took place.  It was not that long ago in the history.  Sure there was no television in those days, but plenty of the happenings have been recorded in the print news media and radios of those days to be found in the archives.

Or are you going to rewrite that history along the lines of your age old researches, that Nalanda was destroyed by Hindus with the links you gave? That of course will make it suit your venomous anti-Hindu tirade.

" ... Jinnah was left dangling in the air, ..." -

Jinnah was nowhere until such time the Bengali Muslims together with one Jogen Modal came on board to form a Muslim state. And say this to the erstwhile East Pakistanis who were back-stabbed by Jinnah right after the formation of Pakistan:

"You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place or worship in this State of Pakistan..." -

Is that the reason why he banished the Bengali language to be used in Pakistan since it bore its origin to Sanskrit? From day one he was shown the door out from East Pakistan after his speech in Chittagong.

At least the Bengali Muslims had the guts to stand up to Jinnah. But, you convert, are adoring him as a messiah for the muslims in India.  Your place is in West Pakistan, Miyan, not in Hindu India, as Lalit often said.

You are saying all over the place that Modi is a mass murderer without giving any evidence, but absolving Jinnah, the real murderer of Hindus in Bengal, of all his crimes against humanity inspite of the existence of overwhelming, documented evidence for this. You are really beyond contempt !

Women activists speak up against so called 'love jihad' - We are quite alarmed at the way the right wing is using ‘Love Jihad’ to polarize people and spread hatred between communities

Kerala High Court in 2009 and Karnataka High Court in 2010, asked police to investigate, love -jihad. In both cases police said there was no such organised mission by Muslim boys.

The BJP’s new rhetoric focusing on a communal twist to crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh is not borne out by cold facts. Data accessed by NDTV shows that in western Uttar Pradesh, where vociferous campaigns have highlighted the alleged abuse of Hindu women by Muslim men, women have been assaulted by men from their own community in most rape cases this year. Out of 334 rape cases in 9 districts of Uttar Pradesh in 25 cases Muslims men were accused and Hindu girls were victims, in 23 cases Hindu men were accused and Muslim women were victims, in 96 cases Muslim men were accused and Muslim women were victims and in 109 cases Hindu men were accused and Hindu women were victims.

Such campaigns against inter-religion, inter-caste marriages are not only against the spirit of a diverse and plural society they also aim to control women’s sexuality and polarise the society along communal lines for electoral and political purposes.

I can understand one person converting to the religion of other in case of inter religious marriage, though, as the example of Kerala, even that is not borne out by statistics, unless there is some external force like love jihad.

In this case, none of them was a muslim, nor was their marriage inter religious. They converted to make use of the facility of polygamy allowed in Islam. In short, a UCC, which makes the sickos mad with rage, would have prevented it. It has nothing to do with inter religious marriage, or the issue of love jihad being discussed.

Here is how wikipedia defines 'kafir'

Kafir (Arabic: ????‎ kafir, plural ????? kuffar) is an Arabic provocative slur used in an Islamic doctrinal sense, usually translated as "unbeliever," "disbeliever," or "infidel." The term refers to a person who rejects God in Islam or who hides, denies, or covers the "Islamic version of truth."

Me: "Only a woman who has lost her logical faculty would want to convert to a religion which, inter alia, discriminates against women."

Anwaar - "By saying so you have in effect questioned her right to make decisions about how she wants to live! You are as much of a male chauvinist pig as many Muslims!"

Even the "secular" Jinnah objected to his only daughter Dina marrying, Neville Wadia, a rich, handsome Parsee, because he was not a Muslim. Does that make him a "male chauvinist pig" too?

Everybody has the freedom to do what they want. I merely pointed out the idiocy of such a decision.

If one marries for love, great. Insisting on conversion as a precondition for marriage is obnoxious. It deserves to be called Love Jehad.

" While it is impossible to take the poison and prejudice out of your mind, here is that speech, delivered on August 11, 1947:"

Perfect example of duplicity. After running a successful, violent and rabidly communal movement for the creation of a land of the pure, he shamelessly declares his secular credentials.

Reminds me of an Urdu proverb. Nau sau chuhe khake billi Haj ko chali. In case, like your hero, Jinnah, you don't know Urdu, it means that after eating 900 mice, the cat embarked on a Haj pilgrimage.

Media is not getting any information from the govt. Their 'sources' are drying up. They are desperating trying to invent, spread news and rumours. Arnab looks frustrated and blabbers nonsense endlessly.

These prim, sophisticated, touch-me-not puritans can hardly be expected to seriously discuss hygine, sanitization, health, filth, garbage, sewage, toilet issues. At best they can do is nit-picking, secular-communal endless discussions which does not require knowledge or indepth research. Just be prejudiced and take side and viola!

Jinnah was as big a criminal as any Nazi criminal. Islamic ideology towards non-muslims and Hindus in particular in Indian subcontinent, in all areas where muslims have been in majority, has been more brutal in practice  , than Nazi German to Jews.

Wiping out non-muslim Hindus and Sikhs, from 22% of population in 1947 to 1% today was made possible by Muslim league, Islam inspired hate of non-muslims. To know how Jinnah and Muslim league carried out the genocide of Hindus and Sikhs, read what the dalit minister in Jinnah Liaqat cabinet had to say in his resignation lettter in 1950.

If this imbecile Pranay Sharma had followed the news and had an ounce of empathy for all the Indian citizens affected by pakistani terrorism aimed at Indians, he would have known this before writing this farticle.

". The tough stance that India has taken on the links of the Pakistan establishment with the Hurriyat conveys that it is not going to be “business as usual” with Pakistan, especially if it continues with ceasefire violations while abetting terrorism in India and threatening our diplomatic missions and nationals in Afghanistan."

This is the considered view of a professional ex-diplomat who has actually dealt with Pakistan. Low IQ imbeciles like Pranay Sharma and the cretins in the Indian journalist community should pay attention to reality instead of pretending that their delusions are "good diplomacy"

http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/opinion/columns/g-parthasarathy/fantasising-about-peace-with-pakistan/article6357260.ece?homepage=true

The first paragraph demonstrates what is wrong why Pranay Sharma's moronic intellectual drool.

"Diplomatic engagement with a neighbour having territorial ambitions and an abiding desire to alter the balance of power has to be carefully planned and executed. Apart from realistically assessing the balance of military and economic power, one has also to carefully assess the neighbour’s internal political equations, and whether the political and army leadership have the inclination and the will to live at peace, without resorting to terrorism as an instrument of state policy."

The easy way to tackle these idiots is stop their funds. They do not and will not have enough money to run the government. Do not answer them, leave them hanging.

DC,

>> " Quran has very explicit passages that give lesser rights to non-Muslims. References of "Kafir", " Zizya" tax etc.

Not according to scholars. Lesser rights apply only to those who make war with the Muslim community. Kafir applies only to those who pretended to be Muslims but conspired against Muhammad behind his back. Muslims paid Zakat tax and were liable to be drafted in the army. Hindus paid Jizya tax and were not liable to be drafted. This was much less inhumane than what went on in many other societies. The rule now that all progressive Muslims support is equal rights and responsibilities for all citizens, but the entrenched power brokers are not going to be easy to displace.

Akash Verma,

>> "Pak was created on the explicit premise that muslims cannnot live together with hindus."

A foolish oversimplification! The premise was fear of Hindu domination, and the fear that Islamic culture and faith would be undermined and demonized. Therefore one Hindu majority state and one Muslim majority state were conceptualized. Not the best solution, but that is the only one that both parties agreed to!

>> "Why did Jinnah unleash his "direction day" in Calcutta"

When the Congress reneged on its agreement to a confederated arrangement, Jinnah was left dangling in the air, with the possibility of being completely shut out from the end stages of the decisive deliberations. There are two parallel narratives about the violence on Direct Action Day. We do know however that more Muslims than Hindus were killed.

"It appears that when confronted with the phenomenon of conversion from Hinduism to Islam, especially by Hindu women, certain kinds of Hindus lose their logical faculty."

Only a woman who has lost her logical faculty would want to convert to a religion which, inter alia,  discriminates against women in terms of inheritance, marriage and divorce laws, imposes restrictions on her freedoms and deems that her testimony has half the evidentiary value of a man's.

D.L.Narayan,

>> >> "Jinnah in his speech to Pakistan's Constituent Assembly in August 1947 clearly visualized a secular state with no distinctions based on religion."

"Pure, unadulterated bullshit."

While it is impossible to take the poison and prejudice out of your mind, here is that speech, delivered on August 11, 1947:

"We should begin to work in that spirit and in course of time all these angularities of the majority and minority communities, the Hindu community and the Muslim community, because even as regards Muslims you have Pathans, Punjabis, Shias, Sunnis and so on, and among the Hindus you have Brahmins, Vashnavas, Khatris, also Bengalis, Madrasis and so on, will vanish. Indeed if you ask me, this has been the biggest hindrance in the way of India to attain the freedom and independence and but for this we would have been free people long long ago. No power can hold another nation, and specially a nation of 400 million souls in subjection; nobody could have conquered you, and even if it had happened, nobody could have continued its hold on you for any length of time, but for this. Therefore, we must learn a lesson from this. You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place or worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the State. As you know, history shows that in England, conditions, some time ago, were much worse than those prevailing in India today. The Roman Catholics and the Protestants persecuted each other. Even now there are some States in existence where there are discriminations made and bars imposed against a particular class. Thank God, we are not starting in those days. We are starting in the days where there is no discrimination, no distinction between one community and another, no discrimination between one caste or creed and another. We are starting with this fundamental principle that we are all citizens and equal citizens of one State. The people of England in course of time had to face the realities of the situation and had to discharge the responsibilities and burdens placed upon them by the government of their country and they went through that fire step by step. Today, you might say with justice that Roman Catholics and Protestants do not exist; what exists now is that every man is a citizen, an equal citizen of Great Britain and they are all members of the Nation. Now I think we should keep that in front of us as our ideal and you will find that in course of time Hindus would cease to be Hindus and Muslims would cease to be Muslims, not in the religious sense, because that is the personal faith of each individual, but in the political sense as citizens of the State."
