Zail Singh would have gladly been Indira’s ‘sweeper’. The rules changed for Rajiv.

Giani is a title, not a name. There is much the charismatic young Prime Minister could have learnt from the President, wise in the ways of the world.

How did Rajiv Gandhi become PM without even an interim arrangement after Indira Gandhi's assasination? He was not a member of the cabinet, let alone being the senior most who would normally have become the interim PM in such a situation.

Was he elected the leader of the Congess parliamentary party BEFORE he was sworn in? Was such a meeting held?

True to his word, Gyani Jail Singh behaved like Indira Gandhi's sweeper. And the so called intelligentsia never bothered to ask these mundane questions. After all he was the heir chosen by the family. The whole episode was a mockery of the basic tenets of democracy.

No mention of how Zail Singh fantacized dismissing RG government. May be because  the rival magazine broke the story.

Under the "Shahadat" of Indira and Rajeev (though partly due to their own making); Congress wants to "Own" this country. And all chamchas like the late Giani (!?!) continue supporting them.

India  has always been about the Rule of Power and NOT Rule of law!
