So Sorry

Gunter Grass is a crypto-communist (The Totem is the Taboo, Apr 23). And like all cryptos, he does not have the courage of his convictions. To follow up on an abominably bad poem, he later apologised too. Was it for the bad poem, or did he suddenly realise that Israeli politicos were not such bad boys after all?

Gunter Grass is a crypto-communist. And like all the cryptos he does not have courage of his convictions. He wrote an abominally bad poem. Heat was turned on , as he must have known it would be. And he promtly apologised. What for ? Was it for the bad poem or he was made to realise that Israeli politicians are not such bad boys after all ? No wonder he would keep coming to pow wow with Calcutta communists.
