Lord Giveth

Apropos of The Secret Diary of Lord Tirumala (Apr 23), I challenge Outlook to write in a similar vein about some non-Hindu gods.

A.C. Vashishth, on e-mail

The only way to democratise ‘darshan’ is to open replica Tirumala temples in different places. That said, even this could create traffic congestions. So why not worship the Lord in one’s own home?

The only way to improve dharsahn is to open tirumala temple in all places. Even that will cause only traffic congestion. Why not every one  worship in own  home? The antique gifted to the Lord is of considerable value. It is stated that temple has 200 tonnes of gold and silver apart from their continuous flow. Instead of storing them in tirumala gathering green moss, why not keep it as national depository with RBI treating it as national wealth to balance the economy which is seriously rocked by our finance. There are similar temples with counted and unaccounted wealth which are just non productive. These temples will not go poor since there is continuous flow  of cash and bullion. RBI may consider a smll interest over the deposited which will be too small yet the temples can assert right. Instead of wasting the money on wasteful projects of MNREGs, Rajive gandhi project, freebies to everybody, there should be judicious spending. we can certainly make tremendous progress with our own internal resources without any FDI.
