DL Narayan >>> Yet this briliant assembly of men, many of whom went on to become Bharat Ratnas, did not, in their collective wisdom, deem it necessary to include the word secular in the preamble. India can never be anything but secular.

Exactly ... it was IG as you rightly recognise who thought it was necessary ... why? Minorities vote bank. The inclusion of "Socialist" was also thought necessary to get the leftists/commusnist on her side. The result: India lost 2 decades while China was liberalising to let the foreign capital in under a visionary Deng Xio Ping  ...

Ah. So much better.

When a BJP minister from MP made some statement expressing outrage over the rape of a little girl, but not phrasing it so well, the sickos (including our other favorite poster on this forum) were all over him, and BJP. Now they want to issue "clarifications".

What he tried to say was--some people go to temple, worship the Goddess and then harass women at home. THis is wrong.

But Pappu being Pappu, he totally screwed up. What came out of his mouth was devoid of any logic and came out quite insulting.

There has been a lot of comparison between Imran and Kejriwal. I think that is highly unfair.

Imran Khan had a solid accomplishment in at least one field. He was a solid cricketer and a good captain. Kejriwal, by contrast, has no such accomplishment in any field.

Book School Officials for Humiliating Teacher: Court

www.newindianexpress.com/cities/chennai/Book-School-Officials-for-Humiliating-Teacher-Court/2014/08/20/article2388292.ece

CHENNAI: Two-and-half years after a teacher was allegedly humiliated for chanting Hindu prayers in front of an assembly of students, a city court has observed that there is a prima facie case against the SBOA school officials, including the principal. The court has also directed the city police to register a case for further investigation on the teacher’s complaint that the school officials had hurt her religious feeling.

R Abirami, then working as a Chemistry teacher at the SBOA School, Anna Nagar, had claimed that she was singing prayers of Christian, Islam and Hindu religions in the daily assembly of Class XII students on March 13, 2012. However, the school principals and a few other officials were irked when she started singing Hindu prayers and switched off the microphone. She had also alleged that she was pushed down from the stage by a few staff of the school humiliating her in front of the students.

She had lodged a complaint against the school officials at the Thirumangalam police station on December 24, 2012 accusing them of hurting her religious feelings.

However, no action was taken by the police on her complaint and subsequently she had filed a petition before the XIII Metropolitan Magistrate Court seeking direction for the police to act on her complaint.

Meanwhile, Abirami was also dismissed from the school on disciplinary grounds for misbehaving with the staff and officials of the school.

On hearing Abirami’s petition and perusal of the records, Magistrate S Sivasubramanian observed that a prima facie case is made out against five officials of the school, including the school principal P C Selvarani and CEO Sherly Paul. “This complaint is hereby forwarded to Inspector of Police, V5 Thirumangalam police. On receipt of this complaint, he (the inspector) has to register a case based on the complaint given by R Abirami, investigate the same and file a final report,” the order issued by the magistrate read.

Too much ho-haa and waste of "national" energy and time.

Personally, I think we ought to just "ignore" Pakistan. If we run into them at global fora, just say a polite "hi - bye", smile and move on. We ought to have invited others at SAARC and not Pakistan. We did the right thing by completely not mentioning Pakistan in a 15th August speech. I hope we can do the same at the UNGA whether Pakistan makes a big deal or not.

On the other hand if we do want to engage, then using "talks" as a chip is just churlish, childish and silly. Not worthy of a nation with aspirations at the high seat. In this case I would rather just keep talking endlessly but not going anywhere till Pakistan is just blue in the face.

When would  these Plestinians in Gazza strip accept that they are defeated minorities in Israel, so they cannot live or behave like conquring forefathers. If they continue to build militant groups and involve in violence they will only be at the leooser's end. Israel is a powerful, modern and proud nation. They are economically strong and politically stable too. For a long time in the history the communities who seek for peace and civilized lives suffered because kowledge and stability did not have enough weapons to pretect against berberic invasion. With the advancement modern military technology the beberism -- which mainly rely on muscle power are no longer compete with a community who are advanced by knowledge and technology. The uncivilized Muslims in Arabs must realize and accept that sooner than the later.

Koran, Islam and Islamists are clear about how Allah wants muslims to "deal" with infidels. There are various treatments prescribed , the severest being for people the infidel Hindus.

Do the infidels have a plan to "deal" with the Mohammadans ? That's the question that infidels from USA to Germany to India to China must ponder over.

Gond must be closer to Tamil than Kannada. MARAM  is the Tamil word for TREE. I had read a long time ago that Gondis worship Mother Earth as THARAI PENNU which in Tamil means exactly that : Earth woman.

Reg the script or lack of it, TULU too does not have a script but is written in the script of the regional language where Tulu speaking reside. Interestingly, Vijayanagar founder - king Krishnadevaraya's mother tongue was Tulu, and he spoke of Telugu as his preferred language.

Some stauch Dravidian ideologues name their sons/ or rename themselves after Ravana.

There is no mention in Ramayana about the language spoken by Ravana and his citizens in Lanka. They seemed to know Samskritam!

First of all, this fanatical Anand is a Christian masqurading as a Dalit. He should read history before he writes anything about Dalits and Ambedkar.Ambedkar was very vehement that Dalits should not get converted to either Islam or Chrstianity. That is how Ambedkar preferred Buddhism,a religion born in India. Will this fellow ever write on the subject of ill treatment of Dalit Christians in their own soceity?Dalits are made to sit in a separate section of the pew in churches and not along with the Upper Caste Christians.Dalits are not allowed to bury their dead in the common area of a cemetry. No Dalit is accepted as a priest by upper caste Christians. One has only to see the matrimonial columns where it is specific that alliance has to come only from non-dalit Christians. The list is long.As for the Muslims if this fellow Anand had read Indian history at the time of partition,he would know that Dalits were forcibly held back in Pakistan for them to do scavenging work for Muslims. In India Muslims have pushed Dalits to penury by not allowing them to prosper on piggery.Going back,it was the Hindu Maharaja of Kolhapur who financed Ambedkar to go to England to pursue his law degree, while the Nizam demanded that he convert as a Muslim to get financial assistance. This And is a shallow fellow and he writes all this nonsence at the behest of the Church.

Democracy without dissent serves no cause

A typical self-serving whine by a JNU jholawallah. You don't need a title and fancy perks to dissent or to lead. Several laws already allow for a situation where there is no "Recognised" Leader of the Opposition. These links have been posted time and time again and yet these bufoons come back with the same old whine (admiringly quoted by our personal whiner) that the syatem will collapse of some Congress toady is not given the status of a minister.

The whole issue becomes farcical when we find that the bulk of opposition MPs are fighting not to be allotted seats next to or to be seen in the same picture frame as the man who wants to be anointed Leader.

Hostel messes in state run Indian universities don't serve beef or pork for a reason - they are expensive and difficult to provide on a daily basis in a subsidised manner. Vegetarian meals are a lot cheaper. If the Dalit students, most of whom are subsidized by the state in some way or the other, want beef on the menu, they should be willing to endure a steep hike in their mess bill. Of course, no one wants that, and any hike in the non-veg mess bills will be seen as a Brahminical conspiracy against Dalits by the likes of Ilaiah.

Based on just one speech addressed to the Pakistan constituent assmbly,Jinnah is called secular.Contrarily Jinnah was a fanatical Muslim.Just look at these incidents. He ordered Direct Action in 1946 in which hundreds of Hindus were killed in Calcutta alone. He never asked the Muslims of Naokhali to stop killing of helpless Hindus. As against this Gandhiji walked to Naokhali to save Hindus. When Muslims of West Pakistan were killing Sikhs and Hindus,he never went to the streets to ask his fellow Muslims to stop killing. This, even after he became the Governor-geaneral of Pakistan. Then he sends Pathan tribals to Kashmir valley in 1948 to indulge in lagescale killing of Hindus.Well, the good news is that Wahabis want his Mausoleum to be uprooted,in Karachi.
