Where Everyone Is All @witter

I’ve been on Twitter for quite some time now and have figured out what it takes to be a hit (Look Who’s Chasing...The Twitter Gods, Apr 16). One, you need to start with satire; which is why @rameshsrivats or @fakingnews have the maximum following. You can get away with choicest abuse in the name of satire; boundary, language, caste, and sex are no bar. Next, you need to be anti-Congress, pro-rss/bjp, take digs at the Gandhi-Nehru family on the slightest pretext and pour venom on Rahul to underline your patriotic credentials. Third, you have to be against the media, especially electronic. Guys like @kiranks, @mediacrooks or @wordofthefreepress make a living on Twitter by reviling Sagarika, Rajdeep, Arnab, Barkha, Suhel Seth et al, jumping at even the odd grammatical error in their tweets. Lastly, a you-scratch-my-back-I-scratch-yours policy ups your follower count like nothing else. Get anyone you know and the world knows to RT any of your tweets and lo and behold the entire list of followers of genuine celebs gets transferred to you. In short, the Indian Twitterati, like the rest of the country, has a long way to go before they become responsible citizens of a mature democracy. Rage and rant are necessary but not sufficient elements in discourse. Genuine concern, a positive frame of mind and feedback will do a world of good to our Twitter rebels-without-a-cause.

Twitter has certainly provided a platform for expression—and a fair variety of it too, by assorted people, in good, bad, appreciative or even abusive language. Its biggest advantage is its limited text restrictions, and hence the to-the-pointness.

People have the tendency to reject something they do not use or do not know how to use. I know someone who has generated funds just by tweeting for a rural school near Bhopal and has opened a ‘clothes bank’ for rural women. Even `28 was trending big at one point.

Twitter gets your message across so effectively that you don’t have to be a grammar freak. Your 140-character composition, however weird, gets attention here. No wonder tweeting has become a way of life for many of our celebs.

For me TWITTER stands for Totally Witty Individual Thpoughts To Entertain and Rouse.

There is no doubt that the twitter et al have changed the way, the people vent themselves, but only to a very little extent. Is there any data to count the heads/people who tweet, or atleast who use internet, or even computers. Very very few. Only a few % of the total Indian populace. Let all the children or youngsters have the chance to tweet, we will have not only a really wonderful story, but also great relief. Is there any tweet about those unfortunates, who do not even earn 28 rupees a day?

There are many on Twitter who are far more popular, knowledgable and humours. This list is not the ultimate list. In fact, many of you may decide to join Twitter and realize that whats was such a big deal about those highly recommended by the 'outlook'. Faking News doesn't figure out here but the handle witty and cool.

People have the tendency to reject somethig which they do not use or do not know how to use. Be a little broad minded. Twitter is full of information. 'Rs28' was trending (hot topic on which most people write) for a long time.

I know someone who has generated funds just by tweeting to run a rural school near Bhopal and has opend a 'clothes bank' for rural women. This time round when I was in Bhopal I met him and decided to assist him in his work.

Twitting is a hit & run , shoot & scoote job. A whiplash! If your problem is sweat equity for  parlour maids or lack of a proper  gim , don't twitt. Chances are you would be trapped in those fatal 140 words.

Glitteratti are no twitterati .

People have the tendency to reject somethig which they do not use or do not know how to use.

That is not the problem. The problem starts when people must use something which they do not know how to.

Well being on twitter for quite some time now and following some if not most in your list of Twitter celebs, let me share my thoughts on what it takes to be twitter celeb.

1) To b hit on twitter,u need to start of with satire.Max followers are for satarical ones like @rameshsrivats or @fakingnews and few others, they can get away with any choisest of abuse that they tweet under the guise of sattire.Their abuse knows no boundaries, language, caste, religion, sex nothing is spared.

2)Next on the list of celebs to be is that u need to be anti congress,Pro RSS/BJP and take a dig on Gandhi Family at the smallest of instance and spew venom on Rahul Gandhi to highlight yourself how much national/Indianness you have.

3)Media esp English electronic ones need to be on a big hate list, some guys like @kiranks @mediacrooks @wordofthefreepress are making a living on twitter by abusing saagrika, barkha, arnab, suhelseth, rajdeep etc and dont let go of even grammatical errors in tweets of media celebs to take them down.

4)Scratch my back and i'll scratch urs if a policy of getting no of followers count.Get any one whom u know and the world knows to RT any of ur stupid tweets and lo and behold entire followers list of genuine celebs and transferred to you,Inturn real celbs expect you at advertise them.

To Summarize,Indian twitter public still have a long way to go ,just like our country ,before they turn into a responsible citizens of a mature democracy.Rants and rages is of course necessary but  will not alone do anything good for highlighting issues.Genuine concern and positive frame of mind and feedback will do a world of good for our rebels without a cause Twitter Brigade.

Twitter has undoubtedly brought a revolution in variety of expressions, by assorted sections of the people, in good, bad, appreciative or even in abusive language. Twitter’s biggest plus point is its limited text restriction simply meaning that no stories please- just talk the topic. However, I must also acknowledge the latest news updates wires from Outlookindia and the balanced, timely, crisp and non-controversial tweets from your editor-in-chief @churumuri. “Twitter- Vaani” can be deceptive as well emanating from the fictitious accounts of similar names. And how come your “who to follow” list does not cover any prominent account ?
