Excellent, in depth article, which shows the many sided role of the Buddhist monks, as also the Tibetan desire for autonomy or independence.
People fleeing persecution in Tibet were allowed to settle down and live peacefully in India. They should not be allowed to indulge in such violent demonstration no matter what. This is no way of showing gratitude to their host country.
Everyone who wishes the Tibetan people well, starting with the Dalai Lama himself, should discourage this fearsome practice and the tragic loss of innocent lives.
