The really interesting thing about India Sri Lanka ties, is that even in the worst days of the separatist militancy, India and Sri Lanka had very good economic and otherwise political ties. At no point did Sri Lanka disengage from India or warn of dire consequences politically for India. There were individual Sinhalese who made vicious remarks over the net, even back in the 1980's, but India Sri Lanka ties remained solid economically and politically. Let's face it, there is a cultural bond originating in Buddhism, and a shared heritage, though the image of Buddhism was besmirched somewhat by the behaviour of a section of the Buddhist clergy.
Mr.Raman,you know only too well that nobody takes the Indian government seriously.Its coalition politics have made it a standing joke.

the Pakis and Chinese will go fishing whatever India does.
The way forward should include some quiet, effective diplomacy and a much deeper economic engagement.
This moderation, of turning the draft to be a non-binding resolution is a falsehood played on the Tamil people by UPA 2.
