The word “divorce” did not exist in Hindu India. One should better know that . There are many “Hindu “ Puranas and Puranic stories and even in Ramayana , you have Ahalya story , which was essentially an extra-marital relationship.

But the important point is "divorce" as a concept or as system of separation to facilitate re-marriage did not exist in Hinduism.

Corruption was sinful for Indians before the advent of British. British, to their credit, also brought diseases like small pox , Syphilis and also tobacco or the habit of smoking to India. Corruption was made highly fashionable and another class called “babus ” started, and sex was made as most sinful act to do !!

One of my friend an Indian was working in a university here for a PhD. In Ramanandasagar's versions, Lord Rama  tells Ravana to release Sita from captivity and will go away taking Sita. But in original Valmiki version, written by a Scheduled Tribes fellow, Lord Rama fights and kills Ravana so much mercilessly that Ravan’s heart popped out from the back.  A slave could have pleaded with Ravana!! But Lord Rama essentially represents a master culture.

She is very cynical and her understanding of Kamasutra , for example , tells us that either her understanding and reading of this great classic was under a dose of heroin or an injection of morphine or she must be deliberately throwing mud only to pass off as "modern woman" !!!
Kamasutra is not about upper caste people or their sex or it is for caste Brahmins!! It is not about upper class sex!! The description about woman with ’pug nose' was there, as author points out but in a different context. This chapter in Kamasutra was about types of women and success of a marriage. Kamasutra is much advanced than what was practiced in Middle Ages and to a great extent even to the present day.
Consider the following just for example:
1) For a marriage match, a bridegroom was advised to go himself to see the girl in person, and decide. Compared to that in middle ages and even up to 1960's , relatives or parents of bridegroom used to go and select the girl and at this stage, bridegroom himself "must" be conspicuously absent in all those so called upper caste marriages. Children of present generation may not understand this, but for my father or grandfathers generation it was mindboggling.
2) Kamasutra advises the bridegroom about the types of women and says for example
a) If a woman was weeping by the time groom reaches her place, then he should avoid such a marriage.
Vatsayana did not say it is for upper castes or Brahmins. In the same manner groom should avoid someone who was naked by the time he reaches her house. If a girl does not know propriety of such an important occasion, he should avoid marrying such a woman. In that same chapter he speaks about girls with no breasts or extremely small breasts or woman with upturned noses, woman with too much hair. The book was written ( certainly not without faults according to me) in 3rd century or in a much earlier period and the issue was about fertility, capacity of a woman to produce children, cantankerous woman, and woman obsessed with sexual desires, and selfish woman. But not about upper caste or lower caste.
4) Why a man likes his woman (in the context of a wife)? Vatsyana did not write about woman with big breasts ( a wife with huge breasts for example ) or curvaceous woman or fair complexioned woman or "slim" size zero woman because Vatsyana says men do not care or would not become "hen pecked " by these types of woman !!(He makes it very clear).
Kamasutra says that if a woman (in the context of wife) keeps herself extremely clean, her hair and clothes spick and span and if she speaks a foreign language fluently, her man likes her very much. And additionally if she knows how to reply to an elderly person's humorous sexual remarks and if she knows how to respect elderly guests who arrive for a visit , her husband likes her and become more interested in having sex with her, according to Kamasutra.
Kamasutra also speaks about woman selling vegetables, maid servants and manual labour class and their sexual pleasures and also how to do like them and their various techniques to adopt. From these writings we understand that there was no starvation, and food was plenty even for the working classes in those days. Kamasutra was not about sexual poses alone. Sorry friend, I have to disagree on this. Trying to call a rabble rouser/hatemonger like MK as just a joker is extremely in bad taste. It is very sad to see MK being clubbed along the likes of genuine professional jokers such as Daredevil Digvijay Singh, Zero Loss Kapil Sibal and all.

The author is doing everything (probably) except spitting on herself.
She is very cynical and her understanding of Kamasutra , for example , tells us that either her understanding and reading of this great classic was under a dose of heroin or an injection of morphine or she must be deliberately throwing mud only to pass off as "modern woman" !!!
Kamasutra is not about upper caste people or their sex or it is for caste Brahmins!! It is not about upper class sex!! The description about woman with ’pug nose' was there, as author points out but in a different context. This chapter in Kamasutra was about types of women and success of a marriage. Kamasutra is much advanced than what was practiced in Middle Ages and to a great extent even to the present day.
Consider the following just for example:
1) For a marriage match, a bridegroom was advised to go himself to see the girl in person, and decide. Compared to that in middle ages and even up to 1960's , relatives or parents of bridegroom used to go and select the girl and at this stage, bridegroom himself "must" be conspicuously absent in all those so called upper caste marriages. Children of present generation may not understand this, but for my father or grandfathers generation it was mindboggling.
2) Kamasutra advises the bridegroom about the types of women and says for example
a) If a woman was weeping by the time groom reaches her place, then he should avoid such a marriage.
Vatsayana did not say it is for upper castes or Brahmins. In the same manner groom should avoid someone who was naked by the time he reaches her house. If a girl does not know propriety of such an important occasion, he should avoid marrying such a woman. In that same chapter he speaks about girls with no breasts or extremely small breasts or woman with upturned noses, woman with too much hair. The book was written ( certainly not without faults according to me) in 3rd century or in a much earlier period and the issue was about fertility, capacity of a woman to produce children, cantankerous woman, and woman obsessed with sexual desires, and selfish woman. But not about upper caste or lower caste.
4) Why a man likes his woman (in the context of a wife)? Vatsyana did not write about woman with big breasts ( a wife with huge breasts for example ) or curvaceous woman or fair complexioned woman or "slim" size zero woman because Vatsyana says men do not care or would not become "hen pecked " by these types of woman !!(He makes it very clear).
Kamasutra says that if a woman (in the context of wife) keeps herself extremely clean, her hair and clothes spick and span and if she speaks a foreign language fluently, her man likes her very much. And additionally if she knows how to reply to an elderly person's humorous sexual remarks and if she knows how to respect elderly guests who arrive for a visit , her husband likes her and become more interested in having sex with her, according to Kamasutra.
Kamasutra also speaks about woman selling vegetables, maid servants and manual labour class and their sexual pleasures and also how to do like them and their various techniques to adopt. From these writings we understand that there was no starvation, and food was plenty even for the working classes in those days. Kamasutra was not about sexual poses alone. Sex poses etc., is just one chapter of this great book. Kamasutra should be read by every housewife, if they wanted vigorous, happy married life. For example, it explains how a woman should take care of the house and herself in the absence of her husband.
About Bhagavad-Gita, author’s comments are extremely foolish.
Probably she never Bhagvad-Gita. The essence of Gita (most of Gita slokas can be found in Upanishads) is the Karma Yoga because no other religion except Buddhism and Jainism answers these questions. For example why a person is handsome, rich, highly intelligent while another one, not only illiterate but also very ugly to look at and was also handicapped as well as very poor?
Swami Vivekananda asks (in Chicago lecture) if God is benevolent, kind and merciful why someone gets everything and also fortunate while another gets nothing and also very unlucky.
Gita answers these questions by Karma, re-birth, advaitha and dvaitha, and other Yogas like Bhakti and Ganana Yogas. Gita's Karma yoga does not inspire cloth stores of multinationals as author says. It is her poor understanding of re-birth. A soul takes re-birth, once the body is gone (death) just like we throw away old clothes and wear new one, soul rejects and accepts a new body.

You don't understand. All the evils in the world are because of the "upper caste manuals" like Manu Smriti, Gita, Ramayana and Kamasutra. The Koran and Bible preach milk and honey, equality, love, brotherhood etc. That's why MK takes on the "upper caste manuals".

    Buddhism is one philosophy which has consistent message throught all of buddha saying/teaching.. In Ramanandasagar's versions, Lord Rama  tells Ravana to release Sita from captivity and will go away taking Sita. But in original Valmiki version, written by a Scheduled Tribes fellow, Lord Rama fights and kills Ravana so much mercilessly that Ravan’s heart popped out from the back.  A slave could have pleaded with Ravana!! But Lord Rama essentially represents a master culture.

You dont need to get worked up over Mara. Everyone knows what Mara represents. Later traditions/literature of Buddhism do mention Mara as a cupid or  a demon with physical form. My question was with respect to what he had in his mind while talking about women. And why women? Why not just lust ? That should answer it to you. You have conveniently forgotten the second question. Theres more to it. 

Does an enlightened one tomtom about his "enlightenment" ? Does he need to renounce his family after "enlightenment" ? One of my friend an Indian was working in a university here for a PhD. The Bulgarian whi overheard them  told them it is 50 million who died during WW11.  5 times more than who died during Partition of India. Later on I had a chance to meet all three. The Bulgarian student  revealed the gory and hoary history of Europe and Russia. 

In India we are not taught world history and one feels that world history should also be taught  as an alernate subject,  so that  one can pass a unbiased statement on the intensity of hoary and goryness.

The culpability or the collective weight of guilt etc. belongs to invaders of India and not to Indians. The invaders of India finally settled in India and become themselves Indians.

The word “divorce” did not exist in Hindu India. One should better know that . There are many “Hindu “ Puranas and Puranic stories and even in Ramayana , you have Ahalya story , which was essentially an extra-marital relationship.

But the important point is "divorce" as a concept or as system of separation to facilitate re-marriage did not exist in Hinduism.

Corruption was sinful for Indians before the advent of British. British, to their credit, also brought diseases like small pox , Syphilis and also tobacco or the habit of smoking to India. Whenever I see an article by Meena Kandasamy or Siriyavan Anand or their ilk, I read them knowing fully well what it will contain. They have become so boringly predictable, despite Meena Kandasamy's claims to be a poet!
