Imagine the Press Council of India itself perpetrating press censorship! "Paid news" is bad enough by itself, a matter of shame. The report on "Paid News" must be published in full. Trying to censor it only compounds the guilt.

The original writers of the report must feel horrible, after what has remained of it.

But one can accuse them of cowardness if they don't stand up to defend the original report.

Let them proof that they take themselves seriously.

"SOME COUNCIL MEMBERS ARGUED THAT IT WOULD DESTROY THE PUBLISHERS' CREDIBILITY AND HURT THEIR LONG TERM INTERESTS."
This is the plea of all the corrupt,Politicians and media alike. A upstanding publisher will never loose credibility and always think about the long term interest of the COUNTRY.

"SOME COUNCIL MEMBERS ARGUED THAT IT WOULD DESTROY THE PUBLISHERS' CREDIBILITY AND HURT THEIR LONG TERM INTERESTS."

This is flawed logic the long term damage that it will cause to the democracy must surely out weigh. Beside to protect the culprits is to become an active participant in this act.

Public is extremely cynical about the news that is broadcast and published these day, we often hear and accuse of media indulging in motivated reportage, by not exposing the real culprits, entire media becomes suspect. This surely cannot be an acceptable situation.

Either those who have not indulged in this malpractice should speak up, or the subcommittee members should make public their entire report.
The rot has really and truly spread to all sections of our society. Nothing it seems is without a taint in our country.
